Miley Cyrus' Engagement Rings Are Just As Different As Her Love Stories
We may have spotted some red flags in Miley Cyrus and Maxx Morando's relationship, but things seem to be cruising along well right now. After four years of dating, Cyrus confirmed in December 2025 that the couple is engaged. Morando, the drummer in the band Liily, surprised the "Wrecking Ball" singer by proposing during a trip they took to Japan earlier in the year.
What kind of jewelry did Morando pick? Fans suspected he may have been planning for non-traditional engagement ring, since there's one for every type of bride (including his edgy wife-to-be).
And they were right. Morando, 27, who was set up with Cyrus, 33, on a blind date, chose an unexpected engagement ring trend with a chunkier style. The Jacquie Aiche cushion-cut diamond is bezel-set in 14-karat gold and was custom made for Morando to present to his bride. We can't help but notice how distinctly different it is from the engagement ring she received from ex-husband Liam Hemsworth more than a decade prior.
Miley Cyrus's ring and relationship with Liam Hemsworth are notably different
Whereas Miley Cyrus' relationship with Maxx Morando has appeared to be stable and solid for four years, her romance with ex Liam Hemsworth was much more up-and-down. The couple originally got engaged in 2012 before calling it quits in 2013. Then they rekindled their romance in 2016 and were re-engaged a short time later. They wed in 2018, but seven months into the marriage, things had cooled off again and they announced their separation. Comparatively, Cyrus and Morando don't appear to have split up once in the time they've been together.
Just as their love stories appear to be quite different, so are the rings the two men gave the "Dream as One" singer. "The Hunger Games" actor Hemsworth had proposed (both times) with a Neil Lane 3.5-carat diamond ring. Though it was also a gold ring, it was more traditional looking and more intricate with diamonds set around the band. Morando's offering feels simpler; perhaps a reflection of what former child star Cyrus is looking for in life right now.
