Taylor Swift was a no-show at the 83rd Annual Golden Globes on Sunday, January 11, but it likely wasn't a huge surprise to fans. The superstar has graced only a few award shows with her presence each year in the 2020s, and usually only those where she's nominated or set to be honored with a prestigious prize. Though she has received multiple nods over the years, Swift was neither a nominee nor a presenter at the 2026 ceremony. 

She did attend the show two years ago when her concert film, "Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour," was in the running for the cinematic and box office achievement category. However, Taylor Swift's striking 2024 Golden Globes dress and nomination ended up being overshadowed by host Jo Koy's terrible joke about her romance with Travis Kelce, leaving her looking unamused and ready to leave. Despite all of this, some Swifties, us included, initially thought she'd made an exception and attended this year's event after one A-lister seemingly cosplayed her on the red carpet.

Jennifer Lawrence turned heads in a skin-baring floral Givenchy by Sarah Burton gown that featured side cutouts and floral appliqués on the bust, waist, and bottom. She complemented the look perfectly with tousled hair waves and simple jewelry. It was an unusual choice for the "Die My Love" actor, who usually opts for monochromatic and minimalistic ensembles. This was likely why fans confused her with Swift, who has made this hairstyle her signature and has worn many floral, cutout, and sheer dresses on the red carpet over the years. One X user even jokingly commented on a post of Lawrence's look, "2011 [T]aylor is that you?"

Jennifer Lawrence's stunning style transformation has included several fashion risks, some of which paid off and some of which didn't. While her sheer gown wasn't bad enough to earn her a place among the worst-dressed celebs at the 2026 Golden Globes, a number of fans thought that the actor's decision to venture out of her comfort zone backfired this time. "She looks uncomfortable to me," one critic commented on Reddit. Another user described her dress as a "lil bit costumey for the Globes." Still, many others had high praise for Lawrence's look, with one writing, "... I'm kind of obsessed with it and think she looks amazing!"

It's unclear if Lawrence had indeed been channeling Taylor Swift, but it's definitely possible that the actor has exchanged style tips with her singer pal, whom she famously pranked at the same awards show over a decade ago. In a viral moment that will forever be etched into meme history, Lawrence hilariously photobombed Swift as she was being interviewed by Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet at the 2014 Golden Globes. At the time, Lawrence outed herself as a Swiftie while discussing the artist's then-recent Country Music Awards performance. "She was just so incredible. ... I'm blushing now just thinking about it," she told Seacrest. While they've rarely been seen together since, the Oscar winner proved she's still one of Swift's biggest supporters when she was spotted at an Eras Tour stop in Philadelphia nine years later in 2023.
