Cheryl Hines Should've Checked The Mirror Before Making This Rookie Lip Makeup Mistake

As a longtime actor, Cheryl Hines knows the power of makeup and how it can transform one's face, but not always in a good way if your application is off. Cheryl Hines has really curbed our enthusiasm for her style with awful outfits, and the makeup mistake she made in January 2026 at the Trump Accounts Summit held by the Treasury Department is right up there as well. When a camera caught a close-up of her face, you could clearly see the dark ring around her lips and what looked like either very light lipstick or an absence of any at all. As a longtime makeup artist, I wanted to jump through the screen and give Hines a much-needed touch-up because her tragic lips threw off her whole look.

Bold lip liner is the daring trend that gives an edgy, full glam look, but only if done correctly. It has to match the lip color closely, or you'll be left with an unsightly finish, especially when your lipstick fades. It looks like Hines chose a dark-purple liner and a peachy lipstick that was long gone, which is a no-no as they're not even in the same color family. What she could have done was feather in the lip liner and then apply a similar-hued lipstick so that the two blended together seamlessly. It seems Hines needs a lesson in drawing, as she committed another makeup flub, but this time, her eyes were the culprit.

Cheryl Hines is heavy-handed with all types of liners

Using subtle liner isn't Cheryl Hines' forte, and it's clear she doesn't know how to nail the barely-there eyeliner trend. In an Instagram reel shared on April 29, 2025, the "Curb Your Enthusiasm" star informed fans that her beauty brand was closing, but all you could see was her garishly applied eyeliner. There was a noticeable gap between the black color and her lashlines, with the product applied very unevenly. It looked like Hines had actually put down a darker shade close to her upper lash line and then added a lighter grayish color on top.

Hines' lip liner was again much too dark for her lipstick, but at least they were in the same color family this time. Many love a bold line, but I wouldn't recommend that for older faces, as it can feather around fine lines. Hines is a natural beauty, which she can enhance with subtler makeup. A slightly smudged smokey eye, a pretty peach blush for her warm skin tone, and rosy lips sans liner would look gorgeous on the "Bad Moms 2" star.
