Iconic '80s Actor Jennifer Grey Is Nearly Unrecognizable These Days
When it comes to '80s icons, one that instantly comes to mind is Jennifer Grey. The "Dirty Dancing" star quickly became one of the most well-known faces of the decade; however, since then, her career has noticeably slowed down. Today, Grey — who is strutting through her mid-60s — is one of the famous '80s actors who are practically unrecognizable. While the star's face changed over the past three decades, not all of it has been due to aging.
After the success of "Dirty Dancing," Grey decided to undergo a rhinoplasty. This instantly changed her face, and over the years, the '80s star became less and less recognizable. Her luscious curls were replaced with a tousled blowout, fake eyelashes became a makeup go-to, and while she never confirmed fillers or Botox, photos do showcase that the star has more facial volume. In one's 60s, the loss of volume and skin plumpness is expected, but Grey's face doesn't show either.
In 2010, Grey participated in Season 11 of "Dancing With the Stars," and at the time, she admitted that she was considering Botox. "Before the show, I thought, 'Oh, I should get some Botox, get rid of the wrinkles under my eyes,'" she shared with Us Weekly. "When you put [on] a lot of makeup, the lines become very apparent." However, her husband at the time, Clark Gregg, convinced her not to. Grey divorced him in 2021, so perhaps she has explored injectables since then.
Jennifer Grey opened up about her plastic surgery regrets
After her rhinoplasty, which Jennifer Grey had at the age of 29, the actor expected a career boost; however, the opposite occurred. In 2022, Grey spoke with People about her nose job and how it affected her, joining a long list of celebrities who have opened up about their plastic surgery experiences. Speaking about fellow actor Michael Douglas not recognizing her at a red carpet event, Grey said, "That was the first time I had gone out in public. And it became the thing, the idea of being completely invisible, from one day to the next," she shared. "In the world's eyes, I was no longer me."
The star added that it was her mother who encouraged her to go under the knife. "I was so upset with my mother for always telling me I should do my nose," the "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" actor admitted. "She was pragmatic because she was saying, 'Guess what? It's too hard to cast you. Make it easier for them,'" the Hollywood star said. Grey also revealed that the topic of getting a rhinoplasty had been a major part of her childhood. "When I was a kid, I was completely anti-rhinoplasty," she explained, adding, "I loved that my parents did it. I understand it was the 50s ... You're just trying to fit into whatever is the group think." Even though Grey continued acting over the decades, the success she achieved in the '80s wasn't replicated.
