Vera Wang Is Nearly Unrecognizable With Bleach-Blond Hair
When we think of fashion designer Vera Wang, daring fashion, black sunglasses, and sleek brown hair come to mind. But not anymore. On February 22, Wang walked the red carpet of the 2026 BAFTA Awards in London, England, and her platinum blond hair instantly stole the show. The 76-year-old wedding dress designer's drastic hair change was certainly surprising, especially as she stuck to darker hair for years. In fact, this is the lightest hair color we've seen Wang rock.

Wang also showed off her shadow roots, which create hair dimension with minimal damage, while sporting a simple white gown with poofy black sleeves. Wang's signature dark sunglasses completed the look, as the designer is known for the accessory she rarely leaves at home. "I'm a collector; I probably have over 1,000 pairs of frames. Maybe more," she told 20/20 Mag in 2021. "I think it's one of the most insane accessories. It is so creative, so personal," the designer added.
Vera Wang rocked brown hair the day before the BAFTAs
On February 21, only a day before the BAFTAs, Vera Wang attended the BAFTA Film Awards Nominees' Party, to which she showed up with brown hair. Whether Wang's blond hair was actually dyed or simply a wig is unclear, but it's safe to say that time will clarify that. On Instagram, the star shared a multitude of photos from the BAFTAs, and while she revealed that her hair had been done by hairstylist Jonathan De Francesco, she didn't address how permanent her blond locks were.
In 2022, Vang told BBC that when it comes to beauty, she enjoys trends, but focusing on having a youthful appearance isn't a priority for her. "I never thought about going way out of my way to preserve youth in a fanatical, obsessive way," Wang said. "I've been asked what are my secrets, and I've got to be really honest, one of them is sleep."
As someone strutting through the second half of her 70s, Wang looks incredible, and she revealed to E! News that staying busy and active is what keeps her energized. "I do like to work out when I can," the designer said in 2025. "I'm a little sporadic. I have a very busy schedule, but it's really work. Work's what keeps me going." And there is no denying that the designer has an incredible career, topped by the fact that plenty of celebrities have stunned in Vera Wang wedding dresses over the years.
