Outdated Princess Beatrice Looks That We Can Never Forget

As a royal who grew up in the public eye, Princess Beatrice's style over the years has been carefully examined. Just like the other members of the British aristocracy, the niece of King Charles III has to adhere to strict fashion rules, such as avoiding short hemlines and overly revealing clothes.

That doesn't mean she always follows protocol, and Princess Beatrice has been seen in some inappropriate outfits that showed her rebellious side. However, the mom of two normally seems to favor outdated looks, such as floral patterns and large headbands, which makes us wonder if she knows what era we're in.

Princess Beatrice's sartorial choices have certainly been eclectic, and perhaps she should take cues from the stunning style transformation of Kate Middleton. The Princess of Wales usually gets it right when it comes to her 'fits, and she's developed her own regal signature look. A more modern take on dressing would do Princess Beatrice well, rather than the many out-of-style frocks that unfortunately age her.

Princess Beatrice's dress looked like Victorian wallpaper

During the Victorian era, which began in the late 1830s and ended in 1901, floral wallpaper was de rigueur, as it captured the romanticism of the time. Well, it seems Princess Beatrice is a fan of the style, as she literally wore it as a dress during the Chelsea Flower Show in 2022. The soft blue flowers and leaves on the white material were reminiscent of a pattern you'd see on the walls of a Victorian manor. We're sure the soothing scene would have been a lovely decoration then — just not on a dress in modern times.

Princess Beatrice's Anne of Green Gables 'fit

Princess Beatrice's old-timey look reared its dated head again in 2023. During the first day of the Royal Ascot of that year, she opted for a floral midi dress with a pink and green floral print that looked completely out of style. Not only that, the frock was designed with balloon sleeves popularized during Victorian times, and it's clear Princess Beatrice loves dressing from that era. If she had just swapped out the gaudy headband for a straw hat, she totally would be a ringer for Anne of Green Gables.

Princess Beatrice's coastal grandmother look

It looked like Princess Beatrice was ready to hop on the coastal grandmother trend while at the Art of Wishes Gala in 2023. The royal looked perfect for the part of a Nancy Meyers movie in her lacy periwinkle blue maxi dress and a white tweed jacket casually slung over her shoulders. While this look was perfectly put together, it looked a bit dowdy on the 30-something-year-old. Perhaps she was channeling her late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, who favored such styles, but her OOTD would have been more fitting for an older woman.

Princess Beatrice looked like she was wearing a vintage nightgown

Princess Beatrice's motto seems to be "when in doubt, wear floral." She did just that at the Romantic Art Gala in 2015, wearing what looked like a long, dramatic nightgown. The high neckline, long sleeves, and floor-skimming skirt were all reminiscent of what a lady of the manor would wear at bedtime during the 1800s, and we can just envision this on Mary Crawley of "Bridgerton." Had the length been a bit shorter, Princess Beatrice's 'fit would have looked more modern, but alas, another bad look in the books.

Princess Beatrice's frumpy 'fit was all wrong

Princess Beatrice was born into wealth, but money can't always buy you the best style. With all her coins, it's hard to imagine why she chose a cheap-looking dress for Nina Flohr and Prince Philippos' wedding in 2021. The ill-fitting bodice of the gown was edged in tacky rhinestones, and we couldn't look away from the hideously large sparkly bow at the waist. This is a piece Princess Beatrice has worn over and over again, but if we never see her again in it, it'll be too soon.

Princess Beatrice went back to her childhood in a pom pom dress

Pom poms can be a fun and whimsical accessory — if you're 5 years old. But Princess Beatrice was certainly not a kid when she wore a bright blue dress adorned with poufy balls in 2018 for a royal event. Combined with the headband and puffy sleeves, she looked like she was ready for an Easter egg hunt at the Windsor Castle grounds. While pom poms can be trendy, the multiple tiny ones on Princess Beatrice's frock looked fussy and dated. A plain material with a belt featuring two large pom poms would have been much more chic.
