Mindy Kaling Can't Escape The GLP-1 Rumors & Her 'Ozempic Face' Doesn't Help
With the popularization of weight loss injections in the 2020s, we've seen plenty of rich and famous people lose impressive amounts of weight. One of them is comedian and showrunner Mindy Kaling, who had noticeably slimmed down by 2026. With her fast weight loss, many have speculated that the star used a GLP-1 medication like Ozempic or Mounjaro. "It looks like she lost weight too fast and has no muscles. Did she do Ozempic?" a user shared on Reddit, with another writing, "Definitely looks like Ozempic." Side-by-side photos of Kaling showcase just how much her face has changed with the weight loss, prompting many to wonder whether what we're seeing is a classic case of Ozempic face.
Ozempic face and the other risks of the diabetes drug are becoming more and more well-known, as the medication often causes rapid weight loss, which can have numerous consequences. "The term 'Ozempic face' refers to the changes in the face that can happen with rapid weight loss," Vinni Makin, MD, told Cleveland Clinic in 2025. "It's characterized by gauntness, sunken cheeks, new wrinkles and loose skin on the face and neck."
While Kaling doesn't appear to have sunken features or loose skin, a subtle decrease in facial plumpness is noticeable. Of course, injectables like Botox and dermal fillers can help tighten loose skin and fill in any areas that lost too much volume. Knowing this, it is possible that Kaling had injections to counteract the effects of her weight loss. However, "The Office" star has never addressed the weight-loss injection rumors, and until she does, it will be impossible to know whether her facial changes are due to Ozempic.
Mindy Kaling's weight loss transformation is undeniable
Throughout her career, Mindy Kaling has always been very vocal about body positivity. In 2022, Kaling revealed that weight loss had been on her mind for many years, but not always for the right reasons. "I've tried really hard to let go of this idea of losing weight for vanity reasons and really trying to think of how I can be healthy," the "Never Have I Ever" creator told People. "And for me, healthy is working out, moving my body a lot, keeping hydrated, and then not having negative connotations around working out and making me feel like if I don't do this, then I won't be something else."
For Prevention, Kaling revealed that walking was her favorite form of exercise. "I think that if I can get in about 15 to 20 miles of walking a week, I have mental clarity, I feel like I get better sleep at night ... So for me, that's always been key," she said in 2024.
In 2023, the star told Allure that the constant buzz surrounding her body wasn't something she wanted to fuel. "It's not super exciting for me to talk about my body and how it's analyzed," she explained. With her weight loss, the actor's fashion choices also changed, as Mindy Kaling's stunning style transformation headed in a more daring and fun direction. The star is believed to have lost around 40 lbs. in recent years, and with that, she certainly seems more willing to experiment with her wardrobe. And the risks? They are paying off. The famous producer was one of the few celebs who ate the top color trends up at the 2025 Met Gala.
