Eva Mendes' Face Transformation Is Sparking Even More Intrigue In 2026
Although Ryan Gosling was busy promoting "Project Hail Mary" when his wife Eva Mendes' birthday rolled around in March 2026, he still managed to give her a sweet gift. During the "Barbie" star's appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," he surprised Mendes with a serenade from a high school marching band and the show's audience. It is natural to think that the adorable moment would lead most social media commentators to scream that Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes' relationship is nothing but green flags. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case, because many netizens were more focused on the fact that Eva Mendes had undergone a head-turning face transformation.
The plastic surgery chatter instantly went into overdrive, with one X user snarking that the A-list couple resembled "wax figures of themselves." Similarly, another critic wrote that the "Hitch" star looked completely unrecognizable due to her rumored plastic surgery.
However, a plastic surgeon didn't exactly share the same sentiments as the Internet. After looking at photos of Mendes from 2026, Dr. Sean McNally told the Daily Mail, "I don't see evidence of recent facial surgical procedures." Instead, the plastic surgeon believed that Mendes' face transformation was the result of Botox and fillers, as he explained, "'She has little evidence of wrinkles across her forehead which would be very likely at 52 and I suspect fillers to both her lips and midface given their current volume compared to older pictures." Dr. McNally also suspected that Mendes may have had cosmetic facials like Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) or BroadBand Light (BBL) to keep her skin glowing.
Eva Mendes could have had additional cosmetic work in the past
In an exclusive chat with our sister site Nicki Swift in 2024, Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Patrick Davis professed that Eva Mendes' facial transformation could be partially chalked up to a facelift done using a "deep plane technique." The expert shared why the procedure could have worked wonders for the "Ghost Rider" star, explaining in another chat with the outlet, "The face tends to resist gravity more effectively, especially with techniques like the deep plane technique that will actually have the tissue adhere more strongly to the underlying facial frame and resist gravity much more effectively."
For her part, Mendes hasn't denied getting some face tune-ups. During an October 2024 interview with The Times, she shared that she was open to undergoing smaller cosmetic procedures that were "reversible." Additionally, she admitted that she had also undergone a few procedures that didn't have their desired results, and she had no choice but to bide her time until the work naturally faded away.
Mendes' face transformation could also be due in part to an excellent skincare routine. In a March 2018 Glamour interview, Mendes shared that her skincare regimen was a mix of home remedies and cosmetic solutions. She revealed that she would combine yogurt with sea salt to make a natural at-home exfoliator. Mendes also seemed to know all about how to integrate coconut oil into a beauty routine because she regularly used it as a moisturizer. She also swore by retinol creams, a ZIIP beauty tool, and laser treatments.
