Side-By-Side Pics Of Alyson Hannigan Prove She's Aging Like Fine Wine

Even though she kicked off her acting career in the late '80s, Alyson Hannigan rose to international fame in the late '90s thanks to the vampire drama series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," as well as the "American Pie" franchise. Thanks to her stunning green eyes and vibrant red hair, Hannigan was instantly recognizable anywhere she went. Decades later, the star hasn't really changed much.

It's no secret that the entertainment industry is plagued with unattainable beauty standards, which often involve looking as young as possible. While many actors turn to injectables and plastic surgery, it seems Hannigan opted for the natural route. Of course, it's hard to tell whether the star had any work done; plenty of it is undetectable nowadays. Even if she did, she still looks exactly like herself. Other '90s stars, including Lisa Rinna, whose plastic surgery is so obvious in side-by-side pics, can't make the same claim.

Photos of Alyson Hannigan in 1999 and 2025 showcase that, while the star has aged, her face still looks youthful. Sure, there is some eyelid drooping, and fine lines here and there, but Hannigan's beauty is still at the forefront. Perhaps she remained somewhat frozen in time because the "How I Met Your Mother" star remained loyal to her signature red hair — which many might be surprised to hear isn't actually the actor's natural hair color.

A significant part of Alyson Hannigan's look has always been her red hair, which the actor has remained loyal to over the past three decades in the spotlight. Her red locks became a trademark of the "American Pie" star, and whether she wore them short or long, she knew the warm tone suited her. "If you have great hair, you can wear sweatpants and still look chic," Hannigan told People in 2011 (via StyleCaster).

However, even though she could easily pass for a natural redhead, Hannigan ended up dying her hair after she got cast as Willow Rosenberg on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." The actor told PopSugar in 2011 that it was "Buffy" showrunner Joss Whedon who suggested a hair color change might be beneficial. "Joss had us all over to his house. Charisma [Carpenter] and Sarah [Michelle Gellar] and I all had brown hair at the time. Joss said, 'All of your hair is kind of the same shade. Does anyone want to be red?' I went for it. Eventually, Sarah got more and more blond, but it was because we all had a brownish, auburn mane," the actor explained. Of course, there are plenty of advantages to having red hair — considering Hannigan stuck to the fiery shade, she undeniably agrees.
