Victoria Beckham, who has had a stunning style transformation, has never been one to blend in with the crowd. Whether it's her signature oversized shades and fitted pencil skirts that defined the early aughts or her chic presence that instantly turns heads, she has spent years proving that standing out was what she was born to do. But there is a limit to how much main character energy one should bring to someone else's big day, and the inappropriate outfit she wore to another A-list celeb couple's wedding couldn't even be saved by her killer legs.
The fashion mogul was photographed the day of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' 2006 wedding in a show-stopping Valentino ensemble that included a sheer blouse with delicate floral detailing and a blush pink mini tutu skirt. Don't get us wrong, the look was ravishingly couture and Beckham's long legs were practically made for the number, but it should have been saved for another occasion.

At any other high-profile fashion event, this romantic creation would have easily landed her on the best-dressed list. For a wedding, the avant-garde silhouette felt more like a runway statement than the look of a supportive guest. Even in a room full of A-listers, the volume of the tutu and the sheerness of the unbuttoned blouse would be attention-grabbing. Many seemed to agree, as a Reddit user commented, "I actually love the Victoria Beckham one but bold choice to wear to a wedding imo" on a thread discussing the look.

Beckham's Valentino ensemble debuted as part of the designer's Ready-To-Wear Spring/Summer 2007 collection during Paris Fashion Week in October 2006. This was just a few weeks before Holmes' big day in November. Given that, at the time, Beckham and Holmes were said to be inseparable and even attended Paris Fashion Week together, sitting front row at the Chanel and Giambattista Valli shows, it's likely that Holmes' knew exactly what her friend had in mind to celebrate her nuptials.
In a 2011 interview with Elle, the "Dawson's Creek" star shared that she and Beckham were always chatting about fashion and what to wear to events they were attending together (via E! News). That said, the Valentino tutu look was likely not a surprise, but a coordinated fashion moment between two of the era's fashion icons.
