Naomi Campbell's Big Question About Menopause Is So Relatable

Toweringly tall and incredibly beautiful, they may seem otherworldly, but even supermodels get older and have to deal with all the less-than-fun stuff that comes with it. Nope, not even Naomi Campbell is immune to the stickiness of aging. But the veil has been lifted on topics that were once taboo, like menopause, making it easier to find support and community. In one of the episodes of the four-part Apple TV docuseries "The Supermodels," Campbell seemed to have a hot flash on camera. She said, "I think I'm going through menopause. It's pre-menopause," (via People). Campbell then asked, "Why do men not get menopause?" Maybe you've seen the videos of men hooked up to period simulators and losing it while a woman attached to the same device is basically chilling. If that's any indication on how men would deal with menopause, we don't think they could hack it.

During the hot flash, Campbell was asked if she needed help to cool down. To that she said, "There's nothing you can do. It just happens." She said it felt like she'd just gotten into a furnace. "One minute, I'm fine. Next minute, just this furnace comes up." Annoyingly, these are the signs that you're having a hot flash: intense heat and sweating, and, oftentimes, an increased heart rate and dizziness due to the disruption in the production of hormones, namely estrogen, per Cleveland Clinic. And for what to know about changes in your skin during menopause, expect breakouts and dryness.

Naomi Campbell became a mom in her 50s, dismissing the timeline

The topic of menopause may make you wonder what else women should know about their biological clock. It is true that the ability to get pregnant decreases and the chance for complications increases as we age, starting at around 30 and getting more difficult after 35, according to Johns Hopkins Medicine. Still, women are having healthy babies later in life, naturally and with the help of fertility tools like IVF. Or via surrogacy, the route many suspect Naomi Campbell took.

She announced the birth of her first child, a daughter, with an Instagram post in May 2021, the month Campbell turned 51. Mother and child then appeared on the March 2022 cover of British Vogue. Campbell was tight-lipped on the details, but she told the magazine that the baby wasn't adopted. "She is the biggest blessing I could ever imagine. It's the best thing I've ever done," she said (via The Guardian).

Campbell has since had a son, sharing rare photos of the family on Instagram in April 2025, careful not to show their faces. Menopause and hot flashes don't seem to be slowing her down. She's being a mama, and still stomping the runways, popping out for buzzy events, and even DJing. A super life befitting a supermodel.
