Pics Of Christina Hendricks Before & After She Found Her Iconic Red Hair Hue

When Christina Hendricks broke out as one of the biggest stars of "Mad Men," she instantly became a red-haired celeb who made you want to try the flaming-hot look. The color suits her porcelain skin so naturally that it's easy to believe she was born with fiery strands, but underneath the dye, she's a natural blond. Hendricks was called to the stage early on, and as a child, she wanted to recreate herself. "Little by little, I began to discover myself. In town, there were artsy stores and thrift shops, where I created a persona," she told The Wall Street Journal. With her favorite actors at the time being Ann-Margret and Lucille Ball, the "Good Girls" star had her mom dye her hair red, and she hasn't looked back since.

Fans are so used to seeing Christina Hendricks with red hair that it's hard to imagine her with inky strands, but throwback pictures she shared on Instagram show her looking totally goth. In the first shot, the "Bad Santa 2" star is seen with a short bob in an almost jet black hue, an oversized leather jacket, and knee-high boots. The second pic shows Hendricks posing with some friends in what looked like a pre-dance moment. "Some highschool flashbacks ... hard to be punk/goth in front of a ship-shadowbox. But trying SO HARD!" she captioned the post. Since her foray into modeling and acting, Hendricks shed her goth image and became known for her red locks, but after her "Mad Men" days, she embraced her natural color once again.

Christina Hendricks went blond for a brief moment

Christina Hendricks proved that being blond is just as fun as having red hair when she went back to her natural roots in 2015. "My hair color represents how I'm feeling at different times in my life, and now that 'Mad Men' is ending, I thought it would be refreshing to go back to blonde," she told Marie Claire. The actor continued, "When I first looked in the mirror and saw the golden-honey color, I felt nostalgic. It was like I was looking at a version of me from 20 years ago, and it brought back that time period." At the time, she chose to go with buttercream blond hair, which is a warm alternative to platinum, and it perfectly complemented her cool skin tone.

Changing her hair color has a significant meaning to Hendricks, with her telling Get the Gloss, "I know that a hair color change can be emotional — some people remember certain times in their life by the people they were with at the time, someone they were dating, or their job, whereas I often relate memories to what color my hair was at the time." While Hendricks looked gorgeous as a blond, we think she's a celeb whose dyed hair looks arguably better than her natural color. Apparently, she thought so as well, as the buttery shade didn't last too long before she was back to the signature red hue we've all come to know and love.
