Not Rihanna, Not Nicole Kidman: This Celeb Had The Priciest Red Carpet Look Of All Time

When you think of pricey and extravagant red carpet looks, who comes to mind first? Rihanna, who wore a regal $3.97 million Guo Pei coat dress to the 2015 Met Gala? Or perhaps Nicole Kidman, for the intricate $2.65 million John Galliano/Christian Dior chartreuse gown she wore to the Oscars in 1997? While both of the celebrity fashionistas have rocked some very expensive outfits over the years, Lady Gaga holds the title of the most expensive red carpet look of all time.

At the 2019 Academy Awards, the singer channeled old Hollywood glamour on the red carpet in a long black gown and matching gloves from Alexander McQueen. Though it may not rank among Lady Gaga's riskiest and most unforgettable fashion moments, it was a classic and stunning ensemble that cost just over $1 million. Her white-blonde hair was swept into a structural updo, and she completed the regal look with some eye-catching bling — $40 million of bling, to be exact.

The gown and diamonds together totaled over $41 million, making it the most expensive red carpet look ever (just barely surpassing Carrie Underwood's $41 million 2013 Grammys ensemble), according to Vogue Australia. Gaga's $40 million Tiffany & Co. yellow diamond necklace made up the bulk of the total cost of her look, and for good reason. The necklace has a Hollywood history, and before Gaga, the last person to wear the iconic yellow Tiffany diamond was Audrey Hepburn, who wore it in photos for the 1961 film "Breakfast At Tiffany's." In 2012, the 128.54 carat diamond was re-set into the 100-carat white diamond necklace that Gaga wore when she won Best Original Song for "A Star is Born" in 2019.

Even before the 2019 Oscars, Lady Gaga had worn some very expensive red carpet looks

While Lady Gaga has been at the center of many iconic fashion moments, like the meat dress she wore to the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, the singer is also responsible for the 15th and 11th priciest red carpet looks of all time. At the 2018 Grammys, the "Born This Way" singer wore a custom $165,716 outfit designed by Armani Privé. Gaga's look featured a lace catsuit underneath a billowing black skirt with an ultra-daring high split and heavy train that reportedly required three people to carry down the carpet.

A few months before her expensive Oscars appearance, Gaga paid homage to Judy Garland in a $198,846 dress from Valentino. At the 2019 Golden Globes, Gaga had two award nominations for "A Star is Born," and her gown very fittingly resembled one worn by Judy Garland in the 1954 version of the film. The "Bad Romance" singer floated across the Golden Globes carpet in a periwinkle ball gown that she paired with matching periwinkle hair for a stunning example of a monochromatic look. Her other fashion moments may not be as ludicrously pricey as these red carpet styles, but Lady Gaga always looks expensive.
