Lisa Bonet's Stunning Gray Hair Evolution, In Photos

Lisa Bonet is an alternative style icon, as well as an enduring sitcom star. Bonet rose to fame as a teen portraying Denise Huxtable on "The Cosby Show" in the mid to late '80s, also appearing in the spin-off series "A Different World" for its first season. Bonet temporarily left acting to marry musician Lenny Kravitz (whom she divorced in 1993) and welcome daughter Zoë Kravitz, who is one of the celebrity kids to inherit their parents' famous style. Despite her frustrations with the entertainment industry, the actor has enjoyed a fulfilling life outside of it; she has volunteered with the non-profit organization Operation Venice Heart in Los Angeles, and is a sustainability advocate.

In addition to all of her notable contributions to her community, Bonet is also known for her bohemian aesthetic. Bonet, who changed her name to Lilakoi Moon in the '90s, often dresses in flowy clothes, has multiple piercings, and isn't afraid to experiment with her fashion. Beyoncé even dressed up as the actor for Halloween 2019, donning her iconic circular shades, floral-print kimono, and, of course, a dramatic hat. Aside from her dynamic sense of style, Bonet is also known for her extra-long locs. Over the past few years, Bonet has even joined the collective of celebrities who proudly show off their gray hair. Though the actor has shown off her gray as early as 2012, she's only begun to fully embrace her natural color throughout the 2020s; over the past few years, Bonet has slowly transitioned her locs to gray. We love to see women transform their look by going gray, and Bonet is no exception.

Lisa Bonet debuted her gray hair in 2012

Lisa Bonet gave us our first peek at her natural gray hair in 2012 when she debuted a fun new hairstyle at the Hamilton Behind the Camera Awards. The actor shaved half of her hair, showing off the gray at the root, letting the rest of her locs cascade down to her waist. While this style looked great with the edgy outfit she wore to the event, it also fits perfectly with Bonet's current boho-chic aesthetic. We hope she gives this look another try!

Lisa Bonet showed off her natural beauty in a selfie with Cree Summer

Over a decade after we got our first glimpse of Lisa Bonet's silver tresses, the actor began to allow her gray hair to grow out fully. Bonet posed for a selfie alongside fellow "A Different World" alum Cree Summer, showing off her new look. Both actors looked fresh-faced without makeup in the picture, which also revealed how Bonet was starting to incorporate her gray hair into her locs. She even wove a strand of silver into the braid behind her right ear.

Lisa Bonet started to incorporate gray into her locs in 2022

In 2022, Lisa Bonet made an appearance at The Annenberg Foundation's North American Premiere of Amazônia, showing off her beautiful transition into gray hair. Bonet, who went bare-faced that evening, continued to let her natural gray grow down into her waist-length locs, giving the actor an earthy vibe that we love. Her overall look for the event was very low-key, with the exception being Bonet's unique piercings and black statement hat.

Lisa Bonet looked boho-chic at an outdoor market around 2024

Lisa Bonet was spotted at an artisan market around 2024 showing off her gray locs. The actor went all-in on the bohemian aesthetic with a blue floral kimono, oversized striped trousers, and a Bob Marley tee. Bonet topped her locs with a worn brown hat, which concealed some of the new growth. Nevertheless, we can see that the gray was starting to approach the middle of Bonet's locs, showing that she planned to allow the gray to overtake her hair completely.

By early 2026, Lisa Bonet's locs were almost completely gray

Lisa Bonet attended the Walk for Peace's first Washington, D.C. stop in February 2026, posing for a few pictures with fans. The artist tried to go incognito with dark sunglasses and a beanie, but her stunning silver locs stood out. Nearly 14 years after she showed off the gray hair at her temples for the first time, with many hairstyles and colors in between, Bonet was almost entirely gray — and looked absolutely amazing.

Lisa Bonet rocked fully gray hair at a March 2026 SNL after-party

Lisa Bonet looked fabulous at a "Saturday Night Live" after-party in March 2026. The actor attended in support of her daughter Zoë Kravitz's fiancé Harry Styles, who was the show's host and musical guest that evening. Bonet wore an all-black 'fit, with a pop of color in the form of a red satin scarf. While the barest trace of brown hair can be seen at the ends of her locs, we're happy to see that Bonet's stunning gray transformation is pretty much complete.
