The Most Stunning Looks From Older Women At The 2026 Cannes Film Festival

The Cannes Film Festival is always home to some interesting fashion choices. But, for as many fashion fails as the 12-day festival sees each year, we've also seen just as many Cannes Film Festival looks that we'll never forget. At the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, attendees of all ages stunned in gorgeous, well-tailored looks. However, it's no doubt that the older actors stole the show. Fashionable stars over 50 like Demi Moore, Salma Hayek, and Jane Fonda proved that when it comes to style, age is just a number.

From body-conscious silhouettes, to playful patterns, to plenty of sparkle, these women avoided the outdated clothing mistakes that can make you look older in favor of fun, chic, and modern gowns.  Though some of their looks toed the line of the 2025 Cannes Film Festival dress code that discourages voluminous outfits, we think they were worth a bit of rule bending. As the festival is soon coming to an end, fashion outlets are beginning to tally up the best Cannes looks of 2026. But we can safely say that this year, the best-dressed attendees were by far the older women.

Cate Blanchett looked chic in Givenchy

Cate Blanchett channeled high fashion energy at the premiere of "Garance" on May 17. Blanchett, 57, swept across the red carpet in a complex gown from Givenchy's fall 2026 ready-to-wear collection, which featured lots of colorful fringe, painted and embroidered floral designs, ruched gloves, and a fully exposed back. Blanchett kept her makeup extremely minimal, and wore her hair in an elegant, understated updo. The Academy Award-winning actor looked flawless in the backless halter dress, smashing cultural conventions around how women over 50 should dress.

Joan Collins is even more fabulous in her 90s

Joan Collins' Cannes look settles the argument — stealing the show isn't just for the young. The 92-year-old icon attended the opening ceremony of the Cannes Film Festival on May 12 in a custom gown by Stéphane Rolland Haute Couture. The sculptural piece featured a dramatic white petaled bodice and column skirt with a long train and a slit up the middle. Collins channeled classic Hollywood glamour with black opera gloves and beautiful diamond jewelry.

Demi Moore wore a beautiful sequin gown during the Cannes opening ceremony

We've gotten to see the stunning style transformation of Demi Moore over the years, but the actor has truly refined her fashion sense in her 60s. Moore, 63, attended the Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony in a custom Jacquemus dress covered in white sequins. The gown featured a streamlined, body-conscious silhouette with a strapless peplum bodice. Moore paired the dress with a statement necklace and feathered earrings from Chopard.

Salma Hayek stunned in a feathered Gucci gown

Salma Hayek attended the 2026 Kering Women in Motion Awards at the Cannes Film Festival in a custom gown from Gucci. Hayek, 59, looked statuesque in the white column gown, which was covered in feathers that exploded out from her left shoulder. The actor wore bling from Boucheron, including emerald earrings and two rings, one set with jade and the other with rock crystal. Salma Hayek has been subtly embracing her gray hair, styling her long black and silver tresses into a classy updo for the evening.

Jane Fonda embraced her figure in a body-conscious sequin gown

Jane Fonda, one of the era-defining style icons of the '60s, showed that she's just as much of a fashionista as she used to be while attending the Cannes Film Festival. Fonda, 88, looked gorgeous in a body-hugging black gown from Gucci; the actor and activist sparkled on the red carpet in the sequin-covered dress, which featured a timeless high-neck silhouette. Fonda stylishly wore her gray hair in a curly bob that landed just above her shoulders.

Carla Bruni took a walk on the wild side in an animal print gown

Carla Bruni, the singer, model, and former first lady of France, made a fashion statement with a zebra print adjacent gown on the Cannes red carpet. Bruni, 58, attended the premiere of "Garance" in a Roberto Cavalli gown with a mermaid silhouette and long train. The Italian-French artist went a bit risqué with the dress' low neckline and body-hugging shape, and looked amazing while doing so. She paired the gown with a diamond and emerald collar from Chopard.

Sharon Stone was endlessly glamorous in an over-the-top gown and cape

Sharon Stone made a splash at the Cannes premiere of "Fjords" in an elaborate outfit from Miss Sohee's 2026 couture collection. Stone, 68, wore a strapless bedazzled black and white gown from the collection, which featured a glittery gradient bodice and embroidered lavender plant motif across the midsection. The gown's matching cape was similarly decorated with sparkling crystals and lavender details. Stone slicked her short blond hair back behind her ears, which made the entire look much more modern and chic.

Isabelle Huppert looked effortlessly chic

Like Salma Hayek, Isabelle Huppert attended the 2026 Kering Women in Motion Awards at the Cannes Film Festival, and did so fabulously. The 73-year-old French actor had an air of effortless glamour at the event, donning a white button-down blouse and long purple skirt from Balenciaga. Huppert pushed the sleeves of her shirt up and popped the collar, which, alongside her large black sunglasses, gave her a cool vibe that we just love. Huppert wore her striking red hair in a simple yet chic side-swept bob.
