Young Sheldon's Zoe Perry Has Grown Up To Be Mom Laurie Metcalf's Twin & These Pics Prove It

Many of us grew up at the height of modern pop culture and tuned into the biggest sitcoms on TV like "Roseanne," whose leading ladies and their real-life partners may surprise you. And watching the iconic stars of those shows raise children who follow in the footsteps of their parents years later is always a treat. While that alone seems like a surreal experience, "Young Sheldon" star Zoe Perry took it two steps further. As the daughter of Laurie Metcalf and Jeff Perry, not only did she inherit her parents' brilliant dramatic range, but she has grown up to look so much like her mom.

While all of the ladies of "Young Sheldon" have transformed before our eyes, Zoe's transformation in the spotlight is especially striking because she brings the exact same sharp expressions, vibrant energy, and distinct voice that made her mom a household name decades ago. In fact, the two women look so similar that fans of "Young Sheldon" who go back and watch early seasons of "Roseanne" often feel like they're seeing double.

Side-by-side pics of the mother-daughter duo prove that Zoe might have inherited her father's blue eyes, but she looks just like her mom in every other aspect. From the dimples to the same sculpted cheekbones, Zoe is practically a carbon copy of her mom.

Laurie Metcalf encouraged her daughter to audition to play the younger version of her character

Finding an actor to play the younger version of any iconic character might seem like an impossible feat. But when the actor's daughter is also in showbiz, the task becomes a lot easier. Zoe Perry played the younger version of her mom, Laurie Metcalf's character Mary Cooper perfectly. And, we have Metcalf to thank for that.

When there was word that a spinoff about the character Sheldon of "The Big Bang Theory," (which also starred Kaley Cuoco, who has had a stunning style transformation), was in development, Metcalf was the one who encouraged her daughter to audition for the young Mary Cooper role. In a 2017 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Perry recalled her mother telling her, "You better go for this," in regards to the show.

The "Young Sheldon" star also isn't one to deny her privilege. While Perry auditioned for the role, she admitted that her connection to her mother and the similarities between them gave her an undeniable advantage. While the industry connection put her on the producers' radar, she explained, "We have lots of similarities when it comes to our voices and mannerisms, and I'm lucky that I have that at my disposal — not only for this part, but in general." From her mother's support and similar traits to Perry's superb acting skills, Perry was bound for success as the young Mary Cooper from the start.
