Dakota Johnson Inherited Mom Melanie Griffith's Megawatt Smile And These Pics Prove It

Melanie Griffith may be one of the famous '80s actors that are practically unrecognizable now, and her daughter Dakota Johnson is almost unrecognizable with her natural hair color, but you put this mother-daughter duo next to each other and there's no mistaking these stars and their twinning megawatt smile. "Working Girl" Griffith is a mother of four and shares Dakota, born in October 1989, with her ex, "Miami Vice" star Don Johnson. Like her parents, Dakota followed their famous footsteps into acting.

Both women have a tendency to pose at events with their lips sealed in coy smiles, but on occasion, they offer photographers a big genuine smile. For example, Griffith appeared to laugh as she arrived at the Planet Hollywood opening in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1994. Likewise, pics of Dakota at the 2025 Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia show a beaming star with enviable cheeks that are reminiscent of her mother's.

Dakota Johnson and Melanie Griffith aren't the only actors in their family with gorgeous smiles. Griffith's mother is Alfred Hitchcock muse Tippi Hedren, and her daughter Stella Banderas, who she had in 1996 with ex-husband Antonio Banderas, has dabbled in Hollywood and created a fragrance and beauty brand in 2021 called Lightbound. And by the looks of things in pics of the four women taken at the 2015 Elle Women in Hollywood Awards, they all have pretty stunning smiles, whether it's a beaming toothy one, or more of a tight-lipped grin.

Pics of Griffith and Johnson taken through the years also show that this duo has a strong bold-lip game to accentuate their stunning smiles. At the 2017 LACMA Art + Film gala, Griffith showed us why red lipstick is always a good idea with her classic hue, and Johnson could be the poster child for creating the perfect '90s wine-red lip with her vampy version.
