Throwback Pic Of Joanna Gaines Shows Off Her Peak '80s Hair
Joanna Gaines does an amazing job at keeping her long and voluminous hair tamed and frizz-free while renovating and designing homes with her husband on HGTV. But the mother of five has had her fair share of hairstyle hiccups while keeping up with trends. The "Fixer Upper" host decided to give fans a peek into what a young Joanna Gaines looked like in the '80s when she shared a throwback photo on Instagram, focusing on her hair.
"Last week on my cooking show we baked and then talked about my bangs from the 80s," Gaines shared in her caption. "Who else styled their bangs like this? I must have been proud of that profile ... look at that height!"
The photo showed Gaines looking at herself in the mirror while sporting white pants and a baggy powder blue sweater. The future Magnolia maven wore her long hair in a scrunchy-bound ponytail and let her puffy mall bangs do all of the talking. Gaines' shadow on the wall showed just how much height she had in her bangs at the time. The extremely '80s look was on par with the high-volume hair that dominated the colorful decade, and showcased a fun part of Joanna Gaines' style evolution.

Joanna Gaines has wowed her fans a few times by sharing pics of her undone 'do, proving that Gaines' natural hair is so different from what we see on TV. There was that time she shared a photo on her Instagram Story that explained why it took her nearly two hours to "tame this mane" (via Today). Then there was the time she shared a comical side-by-side Instagram photo of herself as a kid with a missing tooth. The modern version showcased the Magnolia founder with her natural hair in a messy updo and a fake missing tooth. "Not much has changed and I'll probably regret this photo but it's worth saying again kids ... the world needs who you were made to be!" she captioned the post.
Another snap captured the time her husband, Chip Gaines, surprised her with Pearl Jam tickets, which took her for a trip down memory lane. "@chipgaines you are still the very best at surprises ... @pearljam was everything 17-year-old Jo could have imagined," she captioned a carousel of photos from the night. Gaines sported long waves and a sleeveless T-shirt and jeans, nothing like the outdated outfits Joanna Gaines has been caught wearing. The "Fixer Upper Welcome Home" star showed how much she let loose at the live show in a separate post that included a selfie of her untamed hair and a video that showed how she managed to frizz up the sleek 'do she rocked in her initial post. "Still channeling my inner alternative, angsty teen from the @pearljam concert last night. Gonna just embrace this look for a while," Gaines wrote. The video showed Gaines dancing at the concert and whipping her hair all over the place.
