What Sarah Atwood From Yellowstone Looks Like In Real Life

Taylor Sheridan's modern Western "Yellowstone" has no shortage of complex and even devious characters, but there's one we just love to hate: the high-powered lawyer Sarah Atwood, a central antagonist from Season 5, portrayed by Dawn Olivieri. Sweeping into Montana on a wave of corporate malice, Atwood cuts a sharp figure against the rough-and-tumble inhabitants of Dutton Ranch. With her power suits and her messy girl-boss lob, Atwood immediately conveys a sleek, cold-blooded image.

Eagle-eyed fans of the extended "Yellowstone" universe might also recognize actor Olivieri from a previous role in the prequel "1883" — though her first outing as the matronly Claire Dutton couldn't have been much farther from Atwood's styling. Leaving behind drab fabrics and a nigh puritanical hairstyle to don cutthroat businesswear, Olivieri's transformation from Dutton to Atwood showcased her incredible range. It also helped us realize how stunningly beautiful the actor is in real life.

After the jump to "Yellowstone" in 2023, Olivieri spoke about her new character in a behind-the-scenes interview on YouTube. "Sarah's the hitman, she's the one you send in when all else fails. ... She doesn't come in guns blazing, you know? She comes in and she, sort of, observes her prey," she said. Sarah is dauntingly calculating. Olivieri plays the role so naturally that you could be forgiven for assuming she must also resemble Atwood off set. But she also played Claire Dutton beautifully — so what's the performer really like? Olivieri contains multitudes, balancing her ability to dominate a red carpet with a distinctly down-to-earth side.

Sarah Atwood may be a bona-fide city slicker, but in real life, actor Dawn Olivieri would fit right in on Dutton Ranch. An animal lover and a horsewoman, Olivieri spends a lot of time dressed down, and on any given day, you're more likely to find her in practical athleisure than in a pencil skirt and stilettos. For example, she chose an easygoing 'fit of a tank top, sweatpants, and sneakers for a day of rescuing animals at her passion project, Moon Mountain Sanctuary.

Olivieri channeled her inner rancher for a political action video on Instagram in January 2026, raising awareness against the capture of wild horses. In a move that would surely appeal to "Yellowstone" fans, the actor wore ripped jeans, a sensible fleece, and a simple quilted jacket. Her one purely aesthetic nod to style was the addition of a baby-pink cowboy hat, which imbued the look with charm without distracting from Olivieri's message — proving that cowboy hats have versatility beyond dressing for your next country music concert.

Dawn Olivieri's day-to-day lifestyle may be a far cry from that of her chic "Yellowstone" character, Sarah Atwood, but she can still turn up the elegance. At the New York City premiere of "Yellowstone" Season 5, Olivieri turned heads in a floor-length red evening gown. Between the form-fitting silhouette and the daringly high slit, which showed off Olivieri's tanned legs, it was an outfit that took no prisoners.

The star definitely served an Atwood-worthy attitude in her ensemble for PaleyFest 2023 in LA. The all-black look paired a classic spaghetti-strap midi dress with a no-fuss leather clutch and the pièce de résistance: a luxurious suit jacket thrown effortlessly over Olivieri's shoulders to expose its alluring red lining. We can easily envision the blazer on screen, underpinning Atwood's bloodthirsty tactics, making it a perfect choice for the series' press tour.

Olivieri isn't the only star in the franchise with great fashion sense.
