HGTV Star Hilary Farr Had The Ultimate Post-Divorce Transformation

Over the years, we've gotten to see the gorgeous transformation of Hilary Farr as she became an internationally renowned interior designer. Farr rose to prominence as the co-host on the HGTV hit series "Love It or List It"; she also headed another of the network's shows, "Tough Love with Hilary Farr." Interestingly, Farr's rise to television fame occurred right after her divorce. 

Farr was married to film writer and producer Gordon Farr for 26 years. Prior to their marriage (and her interior design career), Farr (then known as Hilary Labow) tried her hand at acting, starring in small roles in "Days of Our Lives," "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," and "A Man Called Intrepid." It was only during her "horrendous" 2008 divorce that Farr got her real big break. 

"["Love It or List It"] was a godsend because it meant I could pay the lawyers and because it was a diversion, which I needed," Farr explained to Vulture about her divorce. "I had no expectations that it was a show that would go on forever, or become what it did." While Farr has kept most of the details behind her and Gordon's split incredibly private, it's clear that the HGTV star's post-divorce glow-up wasn't just physical (though we do appreciate her chic style and fabulous hair); instead, Farr leveled up her career after her separation, becoming a household name in design.

After her 2008 divorce, Hilary Farr jumped straight into the project that would characterize her career for the next 15 years: HGTV's "Love It or List It." Co-hosting the show alongside David Visentin, Farr became beloved by fans for her confident, no-nonsense approach. During the first seasons of "Love It or List It" immediately after her separation from her ex-husband, Farr kept her look stylish, yet professional at its core; her dark hair was styled in soft waves, and she often paired casual-leaning tops and cardigans with loose-fitting trousers. However, as the years went by, Farr began to step up her look. By the end of her run on the series, Farr had cut her hair into a bob, and donned chic blazers more often than not.

Even over 17 years after her difficult divorce from producer Gordon Farr, the interior designer is still choosing to be her authentic self. While we're equally as obsessed with her post-divorce transformation, we just can't ignore how Hilary Farr made the transition to gray hair look so chic. For most of her time on "Love It or List It," she wore her mane in shoulder-length dark brown waves. However, in early 2025, Farr joined the ranks of the celebrities who proudly show off their gray hair, showcasing her new look to fans on Instagram. While Farr looked fantastic with brown tresses, the designer's warm-toned gray hue suits her complexion perfectly.
