Jami Gertz Is A Fresh-Faced Beauty Going Makeup-Free

Celebrities going au naturel is a trend on the rise. Stars like Goldie Hawn who've had stunning makeup-free moments really prove it, and there are plenty of other celebrities who also proudly show off their gray hair. It's a revolution, and we're loving every second of it. Iconic '80s actor Jami Gertz made the transition to gray hair look so chic, and although she already keeps her makeup pretty minimal most days, she also loves to go completely fresh-faced from time to time. Unsurprisingly, she's a total natural beauty — with or without makeup.

Gertz looks stunning without any makeup whatsoever in this 2004 photo at The Painted Turtle Summer Camp in Lake Hughes, California. She's wearing nothing but a sun hat and she's all smiles. While Gertz became a household name in the '80s, since then, she hasn't been one to go too heavy on the makeup, even while attending red-carpet events. 

This refreshing beauty approach aligns with her desire to stay grounded and largely out of the spotlight. She told The Hollywood Reporter in 2018 that she stepped away from the life of a typical film star to, surprisingly, buy a sports team. "It just seemed like a natural moment for me to take a break from acting," she said. "It's hard to even say it out loud because I love what I do. It's given me so many beautiful things in my life, taught me so many things about myself and the world around me."

You can tell that Jami Gertz's more reserved lifestyle has given her the freedom to go makeup-free often. Her decision to step out of the spotlight was the right one for her and she looks happier than ever in the above photo taken in January 2025. Gertz can be seen nearly completely makeup-free sitting courtside at an Atlanta Hawks vs. Los Angeles Lakers game. Although Gertz made an extremely successful transition from actor to billionaire businesswoman and philanthropist, it's nice to see that she remains true to herself — not giving in to typical Hollywood beauty expectations.

Even on days that she does wear makeup, she typically keeps it pretty minimal, only opting for a bit of mascara, light eye shadow, and a lip color. The perfect example of this is the above photo taken in 2019 while out and about. Although Gertz is wearing what appears to be a light coral lip color, she kept it pretty natural-looking otherwise, proving she seeks to enhance rather than hide anything about her appearance.
