What Does The '70s Wonder Woman Look Like Now?
Many folks in the '70s grew up with Wonder Woman as their hero, and we bet there were plenty of Halloween 'fits as the princess warrior back then. While the series was rebooted as a movie starring Gal Gadot in 2017, we can't forget the OG actor, Lynda Carter, who inspired many young girls to fight for justice. At the time, she was known for having the most luxurious chocolate hair, worn in voluminous waves, crystal blue eyes, and an all-around girl-next-door look — despite having to wear a skin-baring costume for the show. Decades later, Carter retains her wholesome features, and we can't help but marvel at how gorgeous she still looks.
Carter's brunette locks have maintained their fullness, and she still wears them styled in loose waves around her shoulders, proving that major volume and curls are always in. While the actor has a few lines around her eyes, her skin is amazingly otherwise smooth. "People still recognize me all the time as Wonder Woman. I don't know that I've changed too dramatically," Carter told People in 2024. As for going under the knife, that's a hard no for the "Hawkeye" star. "I don't cut my face, so I probably look just myself, but older. And the reason I've never had any facial surgery is just because I'm afraid. [...] We've all seen some bad ones," she revealed. Rather than make changes with surgery, Carter is all about prevention, and there's one rule she never breaks when it comes to her beauty.
Lynda Carter protects her skin at all costs
Lynda Carter's secret to looking youthful in her 70s is a tried-and-true method that involves staving off harmful UV rays. While talking to W in 2016, she shared the one piece of advice her mom gave her. "She said, 'Do not go out in the sun. If you do, you'll end up like a prune or an old leather purse.' At the time, there was no sun protection, so she'd wear hats and put cream on her face," Carter stated. Sunscreen is among the essentials your skincare routine needs if you're over 40, so Wonder Woman's mom was not in the wrong here. Aside from using sunscreen and avoiding the sun, the actor also wears minimal makeup off-screen to allow her skin to breathe.
When she does do her face, Carter turns to a classic brand for mascara. "It's just Maybelline, baby. I'm still a Maybelline girl. It's still the one that doesn't flake. It's inexpensive. [...] And it comes off when you wash your face," she said of the pink and green tube in 2023, per The Strategist. We love a queen who doesn't gatekeep her beauty secrets. If this mascara works for Carter, it's definitely one we'll be reaching for as well.
