One-fourth of the soapy teen drama "Dawson's Creek," Holmes — aka window-creeping Joey Potter — quickly became the talk of high school hallways across America. "Dawson's Creek" premiered back in 1998, and, in the years since, Holmes has continued to rack up the credits, acting and working behind the camera as a director and producer. 

We've seen her look evolve, too. Her style has taken a ton of interesting turns, from cute and trendy in the early aughts, to grown-up and glamorous in the 2010s, to her most recent vibe which is equal parts fun and fashionable. At the time, Holmes had darkened her locks to a near-black espresso shade and was rocking a sexy '90s-era blowout.

Katie Holmes was spotted in New York City in November 2019 looking sharp and sophisticated in a pair of striped jeans and a tomato-red tweed jacket. The simple white T-shirt was the perfect move to keep the look feeling fresh and not too stiff. Photogs caught her outside the 92nd Street Y in New York City in April, rocking a floral printed skirt draped around a stark white button-down minidress for a quirky lesson in layering. Holmes was spotted on the streets of NYC again, also in April, wearing an oversized dark heather gray sweater tucked into a pair of wide-legged gold paint splatter pants. She threw her hair up into a super-high topknot that felt cool and easy.

Leave it to Katie Holmes to take a funky, feminine approach to suiting. In April 2026, she attended the AAFA American Image Awards rocking a snappy black suit with a plunging top and touches of satin. She brought out even more satin for the 25th Tribeca Festival in June 2026, reaching for a champagne-colored shiny blazer and top, and throwing that on with a pair of cream-colored baggy trousers. Her hair got shorter, too — she rocked a super on-trend wavy lob for both events.
