Adorable Pics Of Jami Gertz And Her Husband Of Over 30 Years, Tony Ressler

Those who loved the cult classic films of the 1980s will remember Jami Gertz. Having starred in flicks like "Sixteen Candles" and "The Lost Boys," Gertz was one of the big names to come out of the decade, even continuing her success into the '90s with the '96 thriller "Twister." But she took a step away from her career in the new millennium to raise a family with husband Tony Ressler. More than 35 years after their wedding in June 1989, the couple is still going strong, and their many adorable pics over the years prove it.

At first, Gertz and Ressler didn't seem like a likely couple, since Ressler had nothing to do with showbiz. "All I knew was that she was a working actress," he recalled in a 2018 interview with The Hollywood Reporter. "I didn't know [her movie and TV credits]." For her part, Gertz took to Ressler because "he was a nice guy with a job. Which is what any Jewish girl from Glenview would want. It would have been nice if it was a doctor or a lawyer, but a banker was OK, too." In 1997, Ressler founded the investment firm Ares Management. Today, he's worth $11.5 billion, according to Forbes. "Everyone thinks I married a rich guy," Gertz added in their conversation with THR. "But I made more money — way more money — than Tony when I met him. I paid for our first house. I paid for our first vacation. I married him because I fell in love with him."

That love has been obvious over the years, especially through the couple's PDAs and twinning fashion moments. They've clearly been on the same page since the '80s, and their story proves that life-long love is possible —  even in Hollywood.

Hand-holding was always on Jami Gertz and Tony Ressler's to-do list

If we look back at the many photos of Jami Gertz and Tony Ressler over the years, there's a lot of hand-holding to sift through. The pair attended the LA premiere of "Sleepers" in October 1996, and they looked super cute holding hands as they strutted down the red carpet together. We love this pic, and not just because of Gertz's cute plaid pants (a '90s fashion trend that came back into style in 2023) and matching cardi set, but because they look seriously in love.

Couples who suit together stay together

In November 1989, Jami Gertz and Tony Ressler attended the premiere of one of the biggest films of the decade: "Back to the Future Part II." Once again, they were looking loved up as they held hands at the event, but they also seemed to be twinning with their outfits. Both Gertz and Ressler were in suits, with Gertz jumping on the oversized power suit look that was so popular at the time. While Gertz leaned into pinstripes with a silkier finish and Ressler wore more traditional slacks, they were matchy-matchy in their dressy Derby shoes.

When Jami Gertz and Tony Ressler got the same fashion memo

At the Los Angeles premiere of "Twister" in May 1996, Jami Gertz and Tony Ressler were sharing something of a twinning fashion moment. At first glance, their outfits don't look overly alike, but we suspect the spouses had a briefing before the event and unanimously decided that prints were the way to go. While Gertz went for pants with a combo of giraffe and leopard prints, Ressler matched her energy with a statement wide tie featuring maximalist horizontal stripes. Perhaps this sums up their relationship philosophy, too: They're individuals, but still in sync.

Jami Gertz and Tony Ressler looked happy posing with their children

Following their June 1989 wedding, Jami Gertz and Tony Ressler welcomed three children: Oliver, Nick, and Theo. The happy family was photographed in May 2006 at the LA premiere of "Keeping Up with the Steins." "I have sons and so ... there's not a lot of sharing," Gertz revealed to the Chicago Tribune in a 2013 interview. "There's kind of like, 'I'm hungry, what's to eat?' and, 'You need to take me here, Mom.'" Despite the normal parenting demands, Gertz and Ressler look to be on cloud nine in this snap with their sons.

Jami Gertz and Tony Ressler were always the perfect couple

It's cute that Jami Gertz and Tony Ressler had several twinning moments at the events they attended in the '80s and '90s, but they didn't have to co-ordinate outfits to convey the extent of their love. Sometimes, it was clear in their blissful expressions, and the way they stood so close to each other. Take the "Rush" premiere in December 1991, two years after they tied the knot; in the photo, the couple look content to simply be in each other's company.

Jami Gertz and Tony Ressler are still as cute as ever

For the record, holding hands and other forms of PDA aren't just for younger couples. In March 2024, 35 years into their marriage, Jami Gertz and Tony Ressler were photographed at a party in Austin, Texas, engaging in some cute power PDA, which is the dating trend meant to be witnessed. Sitting together, they leaned in close for the photo, with Gertz resting her hand on her husband's knee. Yet again, their natural smiles say it all: No matter how much time passes, these two are still deeply in love.

Proud Atlanta Hawks owners Jami Gertz and Tony Ressler are living the dream

Jami Gertz doesn't make as many public appearances as she used to in the '80s, but she can often be seen at Atlanta Hawks games, since she and Tony Ressler purchased the NBA club in 2015. In January 2025, they were spotted courtside at a game with actor Will Ferrell, who's clearly a Lakers fan. Despite the friendly rivalry, Gertz and Ressler look happy as ever posing next to Ferrell. Though we often see them in more formal settings, they're just as cute in casual clothes watching their team together.

Jami Gertz and Tony Ressler make plenty of time for fun in their relationship

Owning the Atlanta Hawks puts Jami Gertz and Tony Ressler in a pretty coveted position as far as social status in Atlanta goes. Naturally, they mingle with some of the biggest names on the local scene, including rapper Killer Mike. In February 2024, the spouses took a photo with the star at a Grammy celebration. With Ressler's arm around his wife, the pair look like they're having the time of their lives at the event.

Jami Gertz and Tony Ressler clean up nicely

We love seeing Jami Gertz and Tony Ressler looking comfortable in casual settings, but they also look fab in formal attire. In October 2012, they attended the prestigious LACMA Art + Film Gala, each of them appropriately dressing to the nines. While Ressler was in a chrome suit, Gertz wore a black dress with a leg slit, pairing the evening look with drop earrings, a classic updo, and a bold red lipstick (which is always a good idea). The event attracts some big names every year, but these two are definitely contenders for the most well-matched couple.

Jami Gertz and Tony Ressler might be soulmates

Fast-forward to April 2026, and Jami Gertz and Tony Ressler are still scrubbing up well for LACMA events. They attended the opening gala in another formal look, with Ressler in a two-piece suit and bowtie, while Gertz went for a stunning monochromatic moment in a white dress and embellished matching coat. Jami Gertz also makes the transition to gray hair look so chic in this snap. Approaching their 40-year wedding anniversary, they look happy and as close as ever. Since they're still going strong after all this time, these two must be soulmates.
