Those who loved the cult classic films of the 1980s will remember Jami Gertz. Having starred in flicks like "Sixteen Candles" and "The Lost Boys," Gertz was one of the big names to come out of the decade, even continuing her success into the '90s with the '96 thriller "Twister." But she took a step away from her career in the new millennium to raise a family with husband Tony Ressler. More than 35 years after their wedding in June 1989, the couple is still going strong, and their many adorable pics over the years prove it. 

At first, Gertz and Ressler didn't seem like a likely couple, since Ressler had nothing to do with showbiz. "All I knew was that she was a working actress," he recalled in a 2018 interview with The Hollywood Reporter. "I didn't know [her movie and TV credits]." For her part, Gertz took to Ressler because "he was a nice guy with a job. Which is what any Jewish girl from Glenview would want. It would have been nice if it was a doctor or a lawyer, but a banker was OK, too." In 1997, Ressler founded the investment firm Ares Management. Today, he's worth $11.5 billion, according to Forbes. "Everyone thinks I married a rich guy," Gertz added in their conversation with THR. "But I made more money — way more money — than Tony when I met him. I paid for our first house. I paid for our first vacation. I married him because I fell in love with him."

That love has been obvious over the years, especially through the couple's PDAs and twinning fashion moments. They've clearly been on the same page since the '80s, and their story proves that life-long love is possible —  even in Hollywood.

Jami Gertz doesn't make as many public appearances as she used to in the '80s, but she can often be seen at Atlanta Hawks games, since she and Tony Ressler purchased the NBA club in 2015. Naturally, they mingle with some of the biggest names on the local scene, including rapper Killer Mike. In February 2024, the spouses took a photo with the star at a Grammy celebration. With Ressler's arm around his wife, the pair look like they're having the time of their lives at the event.

We love seeing Jami Gertz and Tony Ressler looking comfortable in casual settings, but they also look fab in formal attire. In October 2012, they attended the prestigious LACMA Art + Film Gala, each of them appropriately dressing to the nines. While Ressler was in a chrome suit, Gertz wore a black dress with a leg slit, pairing the evening look with drop earrings, a classic updo, and a bold red lipstick (which is always a good idea). The event attracts some big names every year, but these two are definitely contenders for the most well-matched couple.

Fast-forward to April 2026, and Jami Gertz and Tony Ressler are still scrubbing up well for LACMA events. They attended the opening gala in another formal look, with Ressler in a two-piece suit and bowtie, while Gertz went for a stunning monochromatic moment in a white dress and embellished matching coat. Jami Gertz also makes the transition to gray hair look so chic in this snap. Approaching their 40-year wedding anniversary, they look happy and as close as ever. Since they're still going strong after all this time, these two must be soulmates.
