Bindi Irwin Had A Kind But Firm Message For Fans Asking Her About Having More Kids

Bindi Irwin has had a complete transformation since her TV series "Bindi the Jungle Girl" debuted in 2007. Since then, the wildlife conservationist has embarked on quite a journey, from winning season 21 of "Dancing With the Stars" to marrying her husband, Chandler Powell, in 2020 to welcoming her daughter, Grace Warrior Irwin Powell, in 2021. However, it seems the public still wants more. In a 2024 Q&A YouTube video, Irwin and Powell were asked about the idea of having more children, to which Powell replied, "Basically, we get asked this question a lot. And Bindi, a lot of you may already know, she went through a big journey with endometriosis. And basically, it was an absolute miracle that we had Grace."

Irwin then followed with a subtle reminder that the question shouldn't be raised lightly, and encouraged people to consider the timing and circumstances before asking it. "I really appreciate everybody who's curious to see if we will have another child, but I do just want to send it out there that remember to be careful when you ask this question because you never know what's happening in someone's life."

Bindi Irwin's 10-year battle with endometriosis

After welcoming her daughter, Bindi Irwin revealed in 2023 that she had faced a 10 year battle with endometriosis. Posting an Instagram photo from her hospital bed, Irwin said she wasn't sure if she wanted to share her diagnosis, but given her public platform, she felt it was only right for other women who may need help. She detailed struggling with immense pain to the point where it was affecting other areas of her life but had no specific diagnosis to justify it. "Trying to remain a positive person & hide the pain has been a very long road. These last 10yrs have included many tests, doctors visits, scans, etc.," she wrote.

Although endometriosis isn't rare among women, getting properly diagnosed is harder than expected, and Irwin was ready to give up until a friend encouraged her to undergo surgery. Irwin recalled doctors finding 37 lesions and a cyst, prompting her surgeon to ask her, "How did you live with this much pain?" The validation was immediate, and it quickly led to gratitude and transparency as Irwin opened up to the public about her journey. "Please be gentle & pause before asking me (or any woman) when we'll be having more children. After all that my body has gone through, I feel tremendously grateful that we have our gorgeous daughter," she wrote, making it very clear that her only concern was to give her "free-range kid" Grace a fun and full childhood.
