What Frenchie From Grease Looks Like Now

She might not have been the star of "Grease," but Didi Conn's Frenchie is one of the film's most unforgettable characters, especially as far as beauty choices go. Conn was 26 when she portrayed the high schooler, but even at 74 in 2026, she's still channeling that magnetic Frenchie energy.

In April 2026, Conn posted an Instagram photo with her "Elsbeth" co-star Carrie Preston, and the biggest difference we noticed between her and her iconic character was her dark hair. Aside from her romance with T-Bird Doody and her memorable all-yellow prom look, Frenchie is best remembered for her foiled beauty school aspirations, which led her to experiment with all sorts of hair colors. In "Grease," she sported both orange and pink bobs – TikTok would have loved her "petal pink hair" – along with a platinum-blond updo. While her modern dark hair might seem like a major departure from her iconic role, the truth is Conn actually had her brown locks in the '70s, too. She just wore wigs during filming. Still, she's definitely a celeb who's nearly unrecognizable with her natural hair color. Ironically, while the bright hues created a history-making look for a legendary character, the actor didn't love them at the time. "Nobody had pink hair," she told People in 2025. "Nobody. I mean, nobody. You'd look like a clown."

While she may have ditched the shades that made her hair look "like an Easter egg," Conn still stays in touch with her inner Frenchie. In June 2026, she appeared in an ad for Laura Geller Beauty's Root Touch-Up Hair & Brow Concealing Cream + Powder that spoofed Frenchie's "Beauty School Dropout" performance. The character's innate sweetness came through Conn's performance, even though her locks were back to their regular brunette.

Didi Conn keeps her beauty routine simple

In the time that Didi Conn has been in the spotlight, she has never deviated from her short brown hair, other than with her "Grease" wigs. She's experimented with bobs and lobs, full bangs and side fringes, but the brown hair seems here to stay. The actor has taken a largely simple approach with the rest of her beauty game, too, which may help to explain why she still looks gorgeous and glowing in her 70s.

"I was in an elevator going to an audition, and it was for a commercial, and standing next to me was someone, an actress that I recognized from so many commercials," she told People in 2026, explaining how her beauty routine came to be. "I had to say, 'You have the most beautiful skin. What do you do?' She said, 'Don't ever use soap.'" Conn still stays away from harsh cleansers, but she is a fan of hydrating moisturisers. "You want to keep moisturizing," she commented.

When it comes to her makeup, there really isn't too much difference between Conn and her Frenchie styling. The Pink Lady relied on retro eyeliner and heavy top lashes, along with blush in the apples of her cheeks, and either pink or red lipstick. As we saw at the 40th anniversary celebration of "Grease" in Beverly Hills, California, in 2018, Conn has kept up these simple yet glamorous makeup staples. The following year, as she attended Cirque du Soleil's premiere of "Totem" in London, England, she had the same '50s-style top liner and lashes with pink blush and lips. We did note that she wore pink neck scarves at both events, perhaps in tribute to the character that launched her to fame. If you love Frenchie's vintage style, here are some '50s inspired haircuts that staged comebacks in 2023.
