Zara Tindall's Best Royal Wedding Guest Looks, Ranked

A royal wedding is just like any other wedding except, you know, jacked up on centuries of storied tradition, public spectacle, and plenty of pomp and circumstance. If you were to delve inside the dress codes at some of the biggest modern royal weddings, you'll find that propriety reigns supreme. Women are often expected to dress modestly, avoiding raucous prints, bare shoulders, and the like. As the eldest granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II and the niece of King Charles, Zara Tindall knows the rules all too well.

The accomplished equestrian has been a guest at her fair share of royal weddings, and she had her own multi-day celebration when she married former Rugby player Mike Tindall in July 2011. As far as her wedding guest outfits go, Zara (mostly) nails it, tending to opt for classic silhouettes, vibrant jewel tones, and, yes, there will be whimsical hats. And she's known to pop on a pair of ooh-worthy pumps. Some of her looks were better than others, and so, for fun, we put them in order.

6. Zara Tindall's printed look was fun but a bit of a hodgepodge

King Charles and Queen Camilla married in a civil ceremony in Berkshire, England in April 2005, and Zara Tindall arrived dressed in a loud dress and wildly wrong accessories. It wasn't her best look, which is why it nabbed our sixth spot. The pastel pink and soft teal are pretty; they just don't work against the black hat and knee-high boots. We wouldn't include her in the worst-dressed royal wedding guests of all time, but we still wish she'd lost the hat and opted for different shoes, maybe strappy sandals.

5. Zara Tindall's hat was fabulous but we wish the dress felt more luxe

When Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank wed at Windsor Castle in October 2018, Zara Tindall looked simple and refined in her royal blue coat dress, accessorized by a darling baby bump. This look would've ranked higher if the fabric looked a bit more luxe and the color was maybe more of a jewel-toned hue; it feels a little too basic blue dress. But we're loving the fancy hat, with its tufts of tulle, and the matching pointy toe pumps. Pregnant and in stilettos? Much props.

4. Zara Tindall made a case for gunmetal gray and flirty Mary Janes

Zara Tindall was there in April 2011 to celebrate the union of Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales. The couple got married at Westminster Abbey in London, and Tindall arrived oozing elegance and style, dressed in a tailored gray coat dress that was just the right length to allow her to show a little leg while sticking to decorum. The real stars of this show, though, were the structured hat, the silver leopard-print clutch, and the sexy-chic Mary Jane pumps.

3. Zara Tindall looked like a million bucks in this emerald coat dress

When Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex got married at Windsor Castle in May 2018, Zara Tindall was invited. She showed up to the celebration looking like old family money, draped in an emerald green coat dress adorned with dark floral embellishments. The luxe-looking outfit was structured but not stiff; it was still airy and full of movement. And we're loving the whimsical hat as well and the Prussian-blue pointy toe pumps and matching clutch. Tindall's baby bump only added to the look's charm.

2. Zara Tindall looked dreamy in periwinkle blue

Zara Tindall doesn't technically hold any official royal titles, but that didn't stop her from delivering full-on fairytale princess in the look she wore to the wedding of her brother Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling at All Saints Church in June 2026. Tindall donned a classically-cut tea-length dress with puffy sleeves and a bodice bow in a vibrant shade of periwinkle that was perfect for a summer wedding. What really jazzed up the royal vibe was the voluminous, tiara-like headband, and we're obsessed with the silver pumps for that added a touch of playful, more modern style.

1. Zara Tindall looked impossibly chic in a striped skirt suit

In October 1998, Santa Montefiore and Simon Sebag Montefiore got married in London, and Zara Tindall was there with the rest of the royal family offering up the best of '90s fashion. The then-teenager wore a pristinely-cut dark striped suit complete with a blazer and skirt. To top off the look, Tindall popped on a voluminous satin hat, the perfect put-together but spirited wedding look for a young royal.
