Kristin Chenoweth Skipped The Traditional White Wedding Dress For Something Even Chicer
It's not unusual to see screen actor and Broadway performer Kristen Chenoweth in a gown. Whether wowing audiences on stage or walking a red carpet, she often turns out in glamorous fashion. So when it came time for Chenoweth's 2023 wedding to musician Josh Bryant, all eyes were on her dress reveal. Would it be standard wedding chic or something more unique to match the "Pushing Daisies" star's spunky vibe?
"On that day, I want to look like Kristin, I want to feel like Kristin, and I want Josh to see the girl that he has been with for five years," Chenoweth told People before the big day. "I'm going to look glamorous and all that, but my hair isn't going to be up to heaven, even though we'll be in Texas. It's going to look like me." And as photos from the wedding show, Chenoweth definitely held to this promise.
Eschewing bridal norms, Chenoweth opted for an unapologetically girly aesthetic, embodying all the magic and sparkle that fans expect from the petite firecracker. From her ceremony gown to her cocktail dress at the reception, Chenoweth ditched the weight of wedding tradition for something a little more authentically Kristin.
Kristin Chenoweth was on-brand with a blush pink wedding gown
As you might expect from Broadway's original Glinda, there was no room for plain white on Kristin Chenoweth's wedding day. While classic shades of white, cream, and ivory are classic for a reason, Chenoweth wanted something with a little more personality. Enter her "Wicked"-worthy Pamella Roland dress, which stunned in a delicate blush pink. "I didn't want to wear white," Chenoweth explained to People. "I went with a sheer nude and Chanel pink overlay with a big bow in the back. Very structured. It has tiny pearl flowers all over the bodice that ombré out to the floor."
The result was like seeing a fairy princess come to life, but elegantly. The pink of the overlay was just subtle enough to be enchanting, rather than childish; the beading was delicate and well-spaced, so that it didn't appear busy or overdone; and the oversized bow added just the right amount of whimsy. As Chenoweth described it, "Simple and elegant. I never thought I'd get married, so I went very nontraditional with the gown. I love it."
Of course, non-traditional dresses aren't for everybody. So far, the most stunning celebrity wedding dresses of 2026 have all been more on the classic side. But we love to see the occasional star break the norm for something that truly reflects their personality — like Chenoweth's gorgeous gown and the equally non-traditional frock she pulled out for the afterparty.
Kristin Chenoweth doubled down on pink with a blush reception dress
True to her Broadway roots, Kristin Chenoweth did incorporate an outfit change for the celebratory party after her wedding ceremony. However, she didn't stray far from her chosen theme. Echoing the sweet femininity of her wedding gown, but with a playful party twist, the performer appeared in another pale pink frock from Pamella Roland — oversized bow still included, but this time placed at the bust. The sleeveless, cocktail-length dress was ready for festivities, giving Chenoweth more freedom of movement than her ceremony look. Furthermore, Chenoweth clearly gave some thought to picking the perfect wedding day shoes — she capped her reception 'fit off with a pair of pink Nike sneakers, leaving her ready for the dance floor.
Ultimately, sticking to the same designer and color palette was an excellent hack to keep Chenoweth's wedding fashions cohesive while allowing flexibility in style and cut. Most importantly, she certainly looked radiant in both dresses! After years spent bringing others' stories to life, we're delighted to see Chenoweth get her own happy ending. And if you're wondering whether her famed co-stars are doing just as well, here's what the ladies of the original Broadway cast of "Wicked" look like today.
