Landman's Michelle Randolph Can Rock Any Hair Length & These Pics Are Proof

"Landman" star Michelle Randolph's complete transformation is gorgeous — there's no doubt about that. We've seen the actor blossom from a relatively unknown gem into a full-fledged star, and she only seems to get better with time. While we're used to seeing her and her character Ainsley Norris with long, wavy locks, in her earlier acting days, Randolph actually had a completely different look.

As you can tell in the photo on the right, taken in 2019, Randolph used to rock a chic blond long-bob (aka lob) with a deep side part — a huge departure from her now signature look. Even her shade of blond was a bit brighter than usual and, honestly, it all really works for her. Although many of us later live to regret our past hair choices, Randolph can look back on this style with pride. It's perfect for her face shape and was most likely easier to manage than longer tresses. This cut is also so flattering for all hair types and colors. There are even tons of bobs that perfectly flatter gray hair. We can't get enough of this look — because it never goes out of style.

Michelle Randolph's long gorgeous locks are high maintenance

While Michelle Randolph's lob was most likely easier to style than her longer locks, it's hard to imagine her or her "Landman" character with a super short cut. While Randolph didn't necessarily adopt this look for the show, head of the "Landman" hair department Tim Muir did put a lot of thought into her look. "How I design a character's hairstyle is based on who that character is," he explained in an interview with Screen Rant. His foray into Ainsley Norris' psyche was inspired by none other than his real life experiences living in Texas with clients who came from oil money. "For 'Landman,' you've got a 17-year-old girl, Ainsley, a cheerleader, [with] long, blonde hair," he said. "That's typical — all of them have big hair. This is Texas. It's bigger and better in Texas."

Muir also mentioned that Randolph's particular shade of blond isn't exactly low maintenance either. "For Ali [Larter] and Michelle [Randolph], their colors, being that blond, had to be done every week to a week and a half," he revealed. "And [it had to be done] in a healthy way so that their hair doesn't fall out or break off." For someone like Randolph, who has super long hair, this is probably a delicate process and one that requires some vigilance. The result is stunning, of course, but it makes us wonder if Randolph ever thinks of her former bob wistfully while sitting in the salon chair every week.
