These Were The Worst-Dressed Attendees At Wimbledon 2026

Every year, celebrities and other notable public figures flock to the U.K. for Wimbledon, the most prestigious tennis tournament in the world. Over the 14 days of events, attendees don their best smart-casual ensembles to take in the matches. The 2026 Wimbledon Championships saw particularly stunning spectators, with celebs like Elle Fanning and Michaela Coel standing out as some of the best-dressed attendees. Even the royals showed out, providing some stellar summer fashion inspiration in the process (we're still thinking about Kate Middleton's cat-eye sunglasses at Wimbledon 2026 that flatter every face shape).

However, for as many gorgeous outfits as we saw at Wimbledon this year, there were more than a few fashion flops. Unlike the chic dresses worn by Fanning, Coel, and the other ultra-stylish spectators, these attendees opted for largely unflattering outfits instead. While the worst-dressed individuals at the event did adhere to the unofficial smart-casual dress code, they ignored the unspoken requirement that calls for sophistication and poshness. From frumpy polka-dot slips to brightly-colored tunics, these were the worst 'fits at Wimbledon 2026.

Anna Maxwell Martin wore a dowdy floral dress with a white ruff collar

English actor Anna Maxwell Martin missed the brief for Wimbledon 2026. On day 11 of the championships, Martin arrived in a black floral dress that featured a white hemline, cuffs, and — most egregiously — a white ruffled collar. Minus the collar, the dress itself isn't overly notable. However, its unique neckline reminds us of a 16th century ruff. While not as cartoonish as the collar that made the Duchess of Gloucester one of the biggest fashion flops at Trooping the Colour 2026, it's still quite garish.

Lily James' polka-dot dress looked a bit too pioneer-like for our tastes

Lily James may be stunning, but the polka-dot dress she wore on day 11 of Wimbledon 2026 wasn't our favorite. The actor's frock was very "2026-does-1886," with a ruffled high neckline and puffed sleeves. This look would have been considered pretty on-trend last year, as ultra-feminine, vintage-style dresses were all the rage. The dress trends of summer 2026 are edgier; feminine silhouettes like babydoll dresses and lace slips are en vogue, but there's more of an overall focus on streamlined chicness. James' outdated dress missed the mark.

Prue Leith went overboard on garish patterns

Dame Prue Leith is beloved not just for her tenure on "The Great British Bake Off," but for her unique sense of style. The South African culinary expert is seldom seen in anything but bright colors and bold patterns. However, the outfit she wore on day 8 of the Wimbledon Championships was a bit too over-the-top. Leith wore a long tunic covered in multicolor stripes and tropical designs, and a pair of bright pink trousers. The busy tunic even made Leith blend into the background of nearly every photo she took at the event.

Joy Crookes' Wimbledon ensemble wasn't a win

British singer-songwriter Joy Crookes made an appearance on day 8 of Wimbledon in a slightly disjointed outfit. While Crookes herself is stunning, we can't say the same for this look. The singer paired a black and white Vivienne Westwood dress with strappy red heels and a tilted black service cap. The entire outfit was a bit unbalanced, with the heavy hat drawing attention away from the stylish dress — her red shoes even stood out as disconnected from the rest of the look.

Kimberley Walsh tapped into the drop-waist dress trend, but it didn't work

You have to evaluate whether a trendy style of dress will work for the event you're attending before indulging. This is part of the reason why British singer and TV presenter Kimberley Walsh missed the mark with her drop-waist dress. Walsh attended day 8 of the Wimbledon Championships in a brown dress with thin straps and a drop-waist silhouette. The drop-waist shape didn't work with the breezy fabric of the frock, as it came off looking a bit too beachy.

Angela Scanlon's disjointed look wasn't our favorite

Irish TV presenter Angela Scanlon put together one of the most disjointed looks of Wimbledon 2026. Scanlon attended day 3 of the matches in a Burberry blazer, blue bubble shorts, a nude illusion camisole, red handbag, and black sandals. Scanlon is a stunning redhead, but the random ensemble didn't complement her well — she wore some of the colors you need to ditch from your wardrobe. Intentionality is a huge part of styling, especially for an event as notoriously posh as Wimbledon. We love a statement look, but Scanlon's outfit just doesn't work all together.
