Now, as the 2026 franchise reboot brings this hero back into the limelight, fans of the classic are wondering: How fares the original Supergirl? As it turns out, she's doing (and looking) fantastic.

Slater may not be 18 anymore, but she still bears a natural, approachable beauty worthy of a Kryptonian hero. From her laid-back style to her dimensional, salty-blond hair, it's clear that the actor has lost none of her charisma or gravitas over the years. And while life has led her to all sorts of interesting endeavors — such as a Ph.D in Mythological Studies — she's never strayed too far from the silver screen. In the snap, Slater poses inside LA's famous TCL Chinese Theater with the movie's logo projected behind her. Rather than primped and polished within an inch of her life, the star looks comfortable and authentic — in other words, ready to appreciate a real movie-going experience. Her long hair is down, her cosmetics barely there, and her outfit loose and comfortable. She even accented the look with a scarf, which adds a hint of bohemian charm (and undoubtedly helped shield her from that chilly theater A/C).
It's refreshing to see such an icon out and about with a low-key beauty look, and Slater's unpretentious approach proves that sometimes, less is more. It's a lesson that her Supergirl successor, Milly Alcock, might take to heart — over-accessorizing sadly landed Alcock among the biggest fashion disasters at the 2026 BAFTA Awards.

Helen Slater is effortlessly elegant at media events, but just as her version of Supergirl had the down-to-earth alias of Linda Lee, Slater knows how to relax when she's out of the public eye. In a September 2025 Instagram post, she looked easy and breezy as she posed with her daughter. The "City Slickers" actor wore an airy, red-and-white blouse paired with a gauzy neckerchief for a touch of continental flair. We don't know the occasion behind the photo, but the outfit was certainly brunch-worthy — we can just imagine chilling at a cafe in this ensemble.
Another Instagram post shows Slater at home in full cozy mode, cuddled up in a beanie and glasses as she shows off the rough draft of her doctoral dissertation. With her gorgeous, makeup-free face and her neat, practical get-up, Slater looks every inch the academic — showing just how many facets are hidden within our favorite Hollywood stars. This includes some of Slater's fellow superheroines; in a similarly pragmatic move, '70s "Wonder Woman" star Lynda Carter swears by this drugstore mascara.
