Kathie Lee Gifford Isn't Counting On Finding Another Love Like Her Late Husband Frank

Former "Today" host Kathie Lee Gifford seems a bit indifferent about finding love again after losing her husband, Frank Gifford. With grief still evident, Kathie Lee revealed that she has tried to remain open to love and dating since his passing. "I had an opportunity for that to maybe happen, and it didn't work out," she told People in June 2026. "Frank will always be the love of my life. If God wants to do something miraculous, like give me another great love [then I'm open to it]. And so I leave room for the miraculous to happen." The NFL Hall of Fame inductee, whom Kathie Lee shares two children with, passed away after suffering a heart attack in their Connecticut home in August 2015. The couple would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in October 2026.

These days, the septuagenarian is content with her current relationship status, relying on her faith along the way, but is still hesitant about the idea of tying the knot with someone else. "I am not dating anybody right now, and I don't want to date," she explained to People. "I'm not looking, and I don't think I'll ever get married again."

Kathie Lee and the late Frank Gifford's marriage serves as a testament to love's ups and downs. The duo met on the set of "Good Morning America" in 1982 and Frank, who was married at the time, initially tried to set her up with one of his friends. While the arrangement didn't work out, Kathie Lee and Frank, who were both born on August 16, found themselves drawn back to one another. Despite a 23-year-age gap, they wed on a New York beach in October 1986. 

The broadcaster was open about his admiration for his wife's character. "She's really honest and real. Kathie, to my knowledge, never said anything she didn't mean or intend to say," he shared (via People). "I know her heart and I know her soul. She wouldn't hurt anyone." As for their tough times, Kathie Lee suffered a miscarriage in 1992, and the retired Giants MVP was exposed for cheating with a flight attendant in 1997, but it wasn't a relationship issue that couldn't be fixed. Kathie Lee told ET, "Too many families break up over something that could be healed if they just stay there and trust God to do a healing in their life."

As painful as it was, Kathie Lee, the author of "I Want to Matter: Your Life Is Too Short and Too Precious to Waste," has spoken publicly about these experiences, inspiring others and choosing forgiveness along the way. Olympic gold medalist Shawn Johnson, who admitted marriage isn't "so easy" but always worth sticking together, and LeAnn Rimes, whose marriage had a complicated start, would likely agree with Kathie Lee's sentiments.
