Sweet Pics Of Mary Steenburgen And Ted Danson Throughout Their Over-30 Year Marriage

When it comes to Hollywood couples who have defied the odds and been married for decades, look no further than Mary Steenburgen and Ted Danson. Having met in 1993 and tied the knot in October of 1995, the two will be celebrating a whopping 31 years together in 2026, which by Hollywood standards is practically forever. It also makes them one of the celebrity couples who have been married for over 30 years.

"We met when we were 40 and 45, and we had lived a bit," Steenburgen told People in November 2018. "We met at a time when both of us had stared down some demons within ourselves and that was lucky that we met then." Both Steenburgen and Danson had been married before and each had two children from those marriages. "[Our love] just gets more profound and deeper as we go through the blessings and joys, but also the hurdles, of life together," Steenburgen told the outlet. "I would literally sign up for 100 more lifetimes with him."

Not only have the two been together for over three decades, but they've also worked together on several projects, proving their on-screen chemistry is just as magical as it is in real life. In fact, when Steenburgen joined the cast of "A Man on the Inside," Danson received a note from the director, asking him to stop acting so in love with Steenburgen's character, per "The Kelly Clarkson Show." But no matter how great an actor might be, when you're that in love, it's not always easy to hide it. And the couple's love for each other is evident in these sweet pics of them together.

Although Mary Steenburgen and Ted Danson first met at an audition in 1983, it wouldn't be until 10 years later when they were both cast in "Pontiac Moon," that sparks started to fly. In 1998, the two attended the Fire & Ice Ball in Los Angeles and despite it being already three years into their marriage, Steenburgen is looking at Danson as if they're still in the honeymoon phase. "Everyone I've ever loved has taught me so much, but I feel like my life really began when I found him," Steenburgen told People in February 2021.

Mary Steenburgen and Ted Danson may have been married before to other people, but as celebrities who got married in later in life, they're proof that sometimes you need to live a bit before you can have a successful union. In October 2000, while attending the "Bamboozled" New York City premiere, the two were photographed looking beyond smitten with each other. "I had, about a year before [I met her], decided I want to become a more emotionally mature, honest human being," Danson told People in January 2025, and that's the version of him Steenburgen fell for.

In April 2003, the couple was photographed in New York, where Ted Danson's arm is around Mary Steenburgen, pulling her close and seemingly giving her a pep talk of sorts. It's a display of comfort and reassurance that speaks volumes of their connection. While we don't know what's being said, nor is it our business, you can tell by her expression and his smile that these two just make sense together. However, it's worth noting that Steenburgen filmed "Elf" in 2003 in New York, so maybe Danson is telling her syrup on spaghetti doesn't sound that bad.

In 2009, Mary Steenburgen finally got her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Of course, Ted Danson was by her side and as we can see in this photo, he couldn't possibly be more proud of her. "Everyone who knows Mary, knows she loves to act," Danson said at the ceremony (via AP Archive). "But what I admire most about you is the grace with which you have balanced your family, your friends, your children, and your career ... I'm so proud to be your husband and I love you so much."

When Steenburgen took that stage at Vibrato Bar & Grill in Los Angeles for a musical performance in November 2013, her number one fan, Ted Danson, was there to show his support and admiration. "There's just a total boatload of crazy that goes with singing live for the first time when you're 60 years old," Steenburgen said while on stage that night (via Variety). "So I want to publicly apologize to Mr. Ted Danson for anything I might have said in the last week. In general it's been pretty nuts at our house."

Although women wearing suits never goes out of style, as we saw with the Wimbledon 2026 attendees who crushed menswear-inspired looks, the fact that Mary Steenburgen appears to be matching Ted Danson makes this fashion choice that much more adorable. In January 2019, Steenburgen and Danson attended the 2019 Producers Guild Awards in Beverly Hills, both rocking suits. Granted, Steenburgen's tie is a little different, both in style and how she's wearing it, but the two are pulling off this matching situation so well that only one phrase comes to mind: couples goals.

In November 2021, Mary Steenburgen and Ted Danson attended the Los Angeles premiere of "Zoey's Extraordinary Christmas" together. Although Steenburgen looked stunning at the event while wearing red lipstick, which is always a good idea, it's the look she's giving Danson that says everything we need to know about these two. "I'm in love. We're in love. That handles a lot. We make each other laugh. I admire her," Danson told ET in January 2021. "If I could be a woman, I'd want to be her."

Not only are Mary Steenburgen and Ted Danson partners in life and love, but they also share a passion for making the world a better place. In December 2025, Danson posted a beach selfie of himself and Steenburgen (with adorably wind-blown hair) on Instagram with a caption about their 20-year involvement with the organization Oceana. Caring about environmental causes looks good on these two, and in September 2025, the couple received the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award for their philanthropic efforts.

To stay married for as long as Mary Steenburgen and Ted Danson, it's takes a lot of work. While some experts will say the trick is making out regularly, and others say it's about communication, for Steenburgen and Danson, it's laughter. "Once you meet her, you'll understand," Danson told Us Weekly in 2024. "She's magnificent and we love each other and we laugh a lot." When they attended the Critics' Choice Awards in January 2026, that's exactly what they did: laugh.
