Bindi Irwin's Wedding Dress Inspiration Came From 2 Specific People
We've all seen Bindi Irwin's complete transformation over the years, which is why it was extra special when she married her love, Chandler Powell, in March 2020. The wildlife conservationists tied the knot in front of just three people at Australia Zoo. While the guest list was small, Irwin didn't skimp on her wedding dress. Instead, she looked like a princess in a stunning white A-line gown that had a fitted bodice, tulle skirt, and lace sunflower sleeves. Irwin always knew that she wanted something similar to the long-sleeve dress her mother, Terri Irwin, wore on her wedding day. She even told People in 2020, "When I was about 12 years old, I put on mum's wedding dress and it was a really, really special." Irwin decided against wearing her mother's exact dress though, since it was too old to tailor. She also told Hello! in 2019 it was a matter of preserving it, "I want to leave it how it is because that's the dress she married dad in."
Irwin was inspired by Meghan Markle's wedding dress too, even if it Markle's wedding dress was deemed inappropriate by royals for an antiquated reason. "When you look at Meghan, just look at that beauty and the royals are always so graceful and I think that grace is so fantastic," Irwin said. Markle isn't the only royal whose style Irwin admires, since in 2014 she posted on X that her fashion inspiration "always will be" Grace Kelly. Yet, outside of her wedding day, Irwin usually dresses far more casually than the royals.
Bindi Irwin keeps her everyday style casual in khaki
Terri Irwin's look didn't just inspire her daughter on her wedding day, since Bindi Irwin's day-to-day style looks a lot like her mom's, as well as the rest of her family's. That's because Irwin apparently loves to rock an all-khaki set, like the ones they all wear when working at the Australia Zoo. Irwin even captioned an Instagram post of her family in khaki, captioning it, "Khaki is not just a colour, it's an attitude."
Even when Irwin isn't working, she keeps her outfits super casual. She explained on the "Not Gonna Lie" podcast in 2025, "I like wearing plaid and ... pajamas and that's about it," even adding, "I just want to show up everywhere in my khaki and feel comfy." Irwin's no-fuss style extends to her beauty regimen too, because she's not into getting glam either. Yet, Irwin is so stunning without makeup, it's hard to tell. Irwin has had that laidback attitude toward her look for a long time. In 2014, when she was just 15 years old, Irwin's gave other teens advice through News Limited (via E News), "Don't try so hard. A pair of jeans and a T-shirt is just as gorgeous." Of course, not all the Irwins are against fashion. The TV personality gave her model brother credit for elevating the family's look. She told Us Weekly in 2024, "The Irwin family has never been synonymous with fashion [...] he is taking it to a whole new level."
