'I Gave Up Diamonds For Dirt': '80s Star Kelly LeBrock On Leaving Hollywood For Her Kids
For Kelly LeBrock, Hollywood and motherhood don't mix, and she has chosen her children over her career and embraced a rural lifestyle. "I gave up diamonds for dirt, and I have a big ranch that I have horses and cattle and dogs and chickens," she told The Daily Mail in 2025. LeBrock shares three children — Annaliza Seagal, Dominic San Rocco Seagal, and Arissa LeBrock — with ex-husband Steven Seagal. After their 1996 divorce, the former model gathered her children and moved to Santa Barbara, California. If anything, we can appreciate how her switch to a rural setting influenced her style, as she seems to have adopted a subtle country-western aesthetic when it comes to fashion.
LeBrock's primary reason for ditching Hollywood was to shield her kids from the ugly sides of her divorce that were being shared by the press. Determined to have peace, she lived without a TV in her home for about 25 years. During an interview with Fox News, she explained, "Hollywood wasn't a place where I wanted to raise my children. My divorce was very much in the press, and I'm just not a Hollywood girl ... I never really liked the attention. I wanted to have dirt in my nails and be in the outdoors."
Despite how some may view the secluded lifestyle, the "Weird Science" star stands by her decision, pointing to how great her children turned out. LeBrock knew that when she was ready to act again, she could, and she did. The star has appeared in a few films over the years, including "Tomorrow's Today" in 2021. "I want a simple life. I don't care about doing movies anymore," the 66-year-old star told Fox News. "There has to be something really special in the script for me to say yes."
Motherhood has helped Kelly LeBrock be resilient
For Kelly LeBrock, having children was the key to improving her mindset and mental health. "Becoming a mom gave me purpose, resilience, and a reason to get up in the morning," the "Hard to Kill" star told Closer Weekly in 2017. Her relationship with their father Steven Seagal has been tough, to say the least. Seagal and LeBrock married in 1987, but several years later, Seagal had an alleged affair with Arissa Wolf, their children's nanny, which resulted in pregnancy. Understandably, he and LeBrock divorced in 1996 after nine years of marriage.
LeBrock, a boomer actor who has aged like fine wine, has been married three times in total — Victor Drai from 1984 to 1986 and Fred Steck from 2007 to 2008, in addition to Seagal. But despite her three divorces, she's remained positive about love."It's been very sad, because it affects the children," she told Closer Weekly. "But I've been married three times so far, and my attitude is, 'Never give up!'"
Despite living a rather reclusive lifestyle, LeBrock's presence was undeniable during a rare sighting at the 7th Annual Vanderpump Dog Foundation Gala in December 2025. The star would have been perfectly dressed for a country concert, in a bold look featuring black leather pants, a blazer, a tall hat, and fire-red cowgirl boots, proving that peace and privacy don't have to mean boring.
