Toni Basil Became A Smash Hit With '80s Song Mickey - Here's What She Looks Like Now
You couldn't get through the '80s without hearing Toni Basil's song "Mickey" everywhere, and fans chanting along to the hook, "Oh Mickey, you're so fine, you're so fine you blow my mind, Hey Mickey!" The music video was just as fun, with Basil dressed as a cheerleader, hair in pigtails, and a face full of colorful '80s makeup trends that are making a major comeback. At the time the song came out, the Las Vegas High School graduate was around 39 years old, and a fun fact many fans might not know is that she was the captain of the cheerleading squad and choreographed all the moves in her music video. Now, the song is over 40 years old, and the singer is in her 80s, but her distinct features are just as recognizable today.

While Basil attended the Grammy Museum in January 2023 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of "Mickey," she was seen with barely-there makeup that brightened her deep-set eyes. Her skin looked absolutely flawless, and she reminded us why red lipstick is always a good idea by choosing a soft raspberry shade. Basil showed off her quirky side by donning a jaunty hat and pairing polka dots with stripes, proving that just because she's in her golden years, fashion doesn't have to be boring. And she still has the moves she was known for all those decades ago, with footwork that impressed folks half her age.

Toni Basil may be known for her cheerleading routine in the "Mickey" music video, but she's got serious pop-and-lock skills as well. In a TikTok video from 2025, the choreographer showed off some awesome hip hop moves at Street Beat in Seoul, South Korea, the previous year. "What an amazing experience! Every day was more fantastic than the next! From the workshops, the conferences ... Locking, Waacking history, GoGo dance workshop and the BATTLES!!!" Basil raved. One fan exclaimed, "That woman is 81!!!!!!!"

During an appearance on Fox 11, as shared by Toni Basil's House, when she was asked if dancing keeps her young, Basil replied, "I think so. Because, you know, when I do these events, I have to also dance." She continued, "I love it. I get lost in my dance studio, and I dance and dance." The '80s icon named other famous faces she had worked with who were inspirations, such as David Bowie, Bette Midler, and David Byrne — all of whom kept her dancing after all these years. It's safe to say that Basil is right up there with them, and we're sure younger generations are looking at her in awe.
