'I Want My Hair Color To Look Like Hers': Stassi Schroeder's Sweet Reason For Ditching The Dye
Stassi Schroeder has a sentimental reason for giving up hair dye, and its rooted in how seriously she embraces motherhood. Fans of the reality star have noticed the darker shade of hair the "Vanderpump Rules" alum has taken on since becoming a mom. According to Schroeder, the decision to return to her natural color came after growing tired of the effort it took to dye, she told Glamour. But as her daughter Hartford, born in January 2021, started to grow, Schroeder's feelings about altering her hue changed.
"Now I just want to match my daughter. I want my hair color to look like hers," she shared. "So we took it down to a darker blond, and I never touched it again. This is hair that hasn't been touched since May 2022." The now-brunette has fallen in love with the natural look, adding that it "suits me best" and she feels "more like myself."
While there are celebs who have rocked 2026's most stunning gray hair trends, Schroeder notes that "the grays are starting," so she might get back to coloring her hair. "I don't know how long I'll be able to maintain it," she said. "I know at some point when the grays are overwhelming, I'm going to have to choose highlights or cover it up." There is the growing trend of demipermanent hair dye for the commitment-fearing girlies, but Schroeder emphasizes her goal to "keep it my natural color."
Stassi Schroeder was contemplating doing a dark blond years before motherhood
There shouldn't be too much surprise over Stassi Schroeder's soft transition to darker hair, as the Hulu star has previously hinted at her openness to the change. When speaking with Bravo's The Lookbook during a 2018 hair transformation, Schroeder allowed hair guru Julius Michael to turn her hair into a darker shade of blond for the first time. "I didn't want her to lose her identity, but I wanted to give her a little variety," Michael said. "I wanted her to have that natural balayage color melt look." Schroeder was already trying something different with her hair at the time by sporting a sleek blond bob, and she rocked the slight hue change for an appearance on "Watch What Happens Live."
While there are serious reasons why you may want to dye your hair dark during the summer, the "Vanderpump Villa" star made a name for herself as a blond and appeared committed to the look. But Michael worked his magic on Schroeder without making any permanent changes, debuting a style he had never created before using just root darkener. The "Vanderpump Rules" star was so pleased with the results and shared her newfound openness to darker blond hair. "I was so scared that it was going to look lazy like I didn't touch up my roots but this is like Victoria's Secret short hair," Stassi said of the finished product. "I'm contemplating doing a dark blond for realzies now."
