Hannah Waddingham Is Nearly Unrecognizable Without Her Short Blond Hair
We consider Hannah Waddingham one of our greatest hair muses. Alongside her talent on-screen, the English actor is known for her gorgeous shade of ice-blond hair. She's also a poster girl for shorter tresses, and even hairstylists are taking notice of how perfect her bob is. "Her bob is a masterclass in effortless glamour," celebrity hairstylist Jason Collier told Good Housekeeping in July 2026. "It has all the hallmarks of a classic bob, but with softer movement and volume that gives it a fresh, modern feel." Hannah Waddingham's voluminous short hairstyles are perfect for older women to copy, and they work so well for her that it's hard to imagine the "Ted Lasso" star rocking anything else at this point. So, you might be shocked to learn that Waddingham was once a redhead with slightly longer locks.
This older photo of Waddingham was taken in 2017, at the opening night of "42nd Street" at Theatre Royal in London, England. We can't help but to notice the star looks just as good with darker hair as she does with a lighter color. Judging from her brown roots, we'd guess that her natural shade is somewhere in between, but it's impossible to say for sure since her mane has shifted quite a bit over the years. Either way, her willingness to experiment with a hue like red really paid off!
Hannah Waddingham has always loved chic blond short hair
Even though Hannah Waddingham experimented with her hair color for a while, it's apparent that she's always loved a good blond bob. Her go-to tone of pearl blond is definitely the trendy color you need for dynamic platinum hair, but in the past, she looked just as great with a dirtier blond. Back in 2007, she sported this deeper color with a much shorter style bordering on pixie territory. Although we adore her current look, this older cut still really suits her face shape.
Other times, we've seen the actor wear a sleek almost chin-length bob with side bangs, proving there's no bob that won't work for Waddingham. While her shade of blond has varied subtly over the years, we still wouldn't mind seeing her try out a darker color again. Perhaps a honey brunette hue? The "Game of Thrones" actor has proven she has quite the range when it comes to hair colors.
