Kay Panabaker Ditched Hollywood After Her '00s Disney Fame - What She Looks Like Now
Noughties-era Disney was a crucible for many of today's biggest celebs. Household names like Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, and even Zendaya all rose through the ranks of child stardom thanks to roles from the House of Mouse. (Just look back through the photo timeline of Zendaya's iconic style evolution for proof.) But not all Disney Channel regulars stuck with showbiz — some, like Kay Panabaker, took a hard left turn into different careers.
Kay Panabaker starred in several Disney titles throughout the 2000s, from the made-for-TV movies "Life Is Ruff" and "Read It and Weep" to her leading role in the show "Phil of the Future." This success led to appearances on other programs, including main parts in the WB's "Summerland" and ABC's "No Ordinary Family." But after 2012, Panabaker seemed to drop off the entertainment industry's map, leading many fans to wonder: How is she doing now? Happily, Panabaker is gorgeous and thriving.
Though she's no longer making a living in the public eye, Panabaker does have a lowkey social media presence, offering both old fans and new a glimpse into her current lifestyle. And it seems that stepping out of the limelight has suited her — the former child star is radiant in a selfie from Instagram, her smile wide and bright as she poses by a horse with a unicorn horn. This is just one of several shots that show how Panabaker, now a grown adult in her late 30s, has maintained both her youthful looks and a Disney-worthy sense of whimsy.
Kay Panabaker has become a master of dopamine dressing
By 2022, Kay Panabaker had been out of Hollywood for a solid decade, leaving TV and film behind to become a zookeeper. However, she stuck close to her roots by working with animals in a Disney park — and she clearly didn't leave behind her sense of fun and adventure. In May that year, Panabaker shared an Instagram post wearing every child's dream: light-up sneakers. "Shout out to these shoes! They bring me so much joy! ... Every adult should own a pair," Panabaker wrote in the caption. "Find your people, run in the rain, wear light-up shoes for all the important life events."
Speaking of important life events, she also shared some shots of her wonderfully non-traditional wedding dress in another 2022 Instagram post. The dramatic, sparkly green gown looked incredible on Panabaker, delivering some real fairytale vibes and capitalizing on the anything-goes "anti-bride" wedding dress trend of the early 2020s. What's more, it seemed to have a light-up secret of its own. The second photo of Panabaker's bridal look reveals a surprising green glow from beneath the full skirts, showing off her penchant for playful fashion.
While Panabaker has been quiet online in the past few years, these updates certainly suggest that her post-fame lifestyle has been one of delight and fulfillment. Not only does she look fabulous, but more importantly, she looks happy. And Panabaker is in good company — many of our favorite child stars grew up to be gorgeous.
