While there might be some debate as to whether Jennifer Lopez is primarily a musician or actor, one thing is sure: The New York City native has always been a fashion icon. In fact, Jennifer Lopez's style transformation has been head-turning, and while the green number she rocked at the 2000 Grammys is what most people instantly think of, the truth is that "Jenny from the Block" had other stunning fashion moments that year. In fact, the pink halter dress that J.Lo wore to the 2000 ALMA Awards held just months after the Grammys definitely deserves to be remembered, too.

Lopez showed up to the awards honoring Latinx artists across a variety of entertainment categories in a sleeveless maxi dress with a halter neckline. The material hugged her curves beautifully, and while the look wasn't as revealing as the green Versace number, it certainly looked incredible on the "If You Had My Love" singer. The magenta-pink color suited Lopez, and it's a bold shade we wish we'd see the star wear more often.

She paired the dress with a tiny sparkly purse and matching delicate jewelry. In true early aughts fashion, the star rocked icy-pink eyeshadow all over her eyelids, a makeup product that was a staple of Y2K beauty. Glossy lips and a stunning half-updo ponytail finished the look off, creating a fashion and beauty moment from Lopez's career beginnings that we believe deserved more buzz.

Even though her 2000 ALMA Awards gown deserves more appreciation, there is no denying that the "Hustlers" star's green Versace dress is historic for a reason. In fact, Jennifer Lopez's Grammy dress is an iconic fashion moment that not only defined red carpet fashion at the time, but also helped create Google Images, as many tried to look for photos of the fashion moment online.

However, in a 2024 interview with Vogue, Lopez shared that she was told not to wear the dress to the prestigious award show. "It was a dress that other people had worn already," the star explained, adding, "My stylist was like, 'Please don't wear it. Somebody else has worn it.'" Luckily, Lopez trusted her gut, and by picking the dress, she created fashion history. "I was like, 'Well, you bought it, and it looks the best, so I'm going to wear it.' And so I did. And it caused quite a stir," she admitted, adding that she believes the green garment has gained cult status, like the famous white Marilyn Monroe dress from "The Seven Year Itch," which undeniably led to one of the most iconic on-screen dress moments of all time. "I guess every generation needs its iconic kind of Marilyn dress, and this is that dress for this generation," the "On the Floor" singer added.
