Three's Company Star Joyce DeWitt Had A Strict On-Screen Fashion Rule
For actor Joyce DeWitt, flawless legs were a non-negotiable when filming shows like "Three's Company." DeWitt would go on to be named the spokesperson for L'eggs, a pantyhose brand for which she did several commercials. "A smooth look is a sexy look, and it's yours with Undie Leggs," the star beamed in a 1981 commercial for the brand's stay-put pantyhose. Still widely recognized for her role as Janet Wood, DeWitt had a dedication to pantyhose that continued even after her L'eggs partnership and the show's 1984 end. The "Rock Story" star has frequently been spotted on red carpets continuously sporting the undergarment beneath her dresses. But pantyhose are just one part of DeWitt's signature look.

During a conversation with fellow actor Amy Yasbeck, the ex-wife of her "Three's Company" co-star John Ritter, DeWitt shared her reason for the hair transformation. "I changed [Janet Wood's] hair because I felt she was an evolving human being," DeWitt explained during an interview for Pluto TV in 2025. "So I was trying to keep her in the milieu of a young person, a young woman in her 20s, moving into her 30s ... I knew that I wanted to go short, much shorter."
The style was done by the renowned cosmetologist Harry King. Today, DeWitt still wears her hair in a similar fashion, albeit a bit shorter and now gray.
