Remember Joyce DeWitt From Three's Company? Here's What The '80s Star Looks Like Now

"Come and knock on our door, we've been waiting for you" is one of the many unforgettable anthems of '70s and '80s television. "Three's Company" was a defining staple of primetime comedy for more than seven years, and while John Ritter and Suzanne Somers, whose many outfits from the show are looks you can easily wear today, might have stolen the spotlight with their bold personalities, Joyce DeWitt — who played Janet Wood — was the secret weapon who gave the series its staying power. In the '80s, DeWitt was known for her signature dark brunette (almost black) wavy bob, expressive eyes, and warm smile, but she looks a little different, albeit equally charming, today.

Present-day photos of the actor prove that life has treated her well and aging has only enhanced her natural beauty. A photo of DeWitt attending the annual gala for the John Ritter Foundation for Aortic Health in 2024 shows the actor having swapped out the '80s brunette shag for a sleek, all-white pixie cut, one of those short cuts that can highlight gray hair and bring timeless elegance. Despite all the years that have passed, her hairstyle might be the only thing that has changed, as DeWitt still has the same expressive brown eyes and beaming smile that charmed the sitcom's fans back in the day.

You might have done a double take and thought the photo on the left is of Kris Jenner, but that voluminous dark-haired beauty is actually none other than "Three's Company" icon Joyce DeWitt at the peak of her '80s TV reign. Despite the photo being taken more than 40 years ago, it barely reads as a throwback. Her makeup leans into a soft, luminous glam that doesn't feel too loud, and her beaming smile is instantly recognizable. 

When you place that vintage shot of the actor next to a photo of the actor in 2019 before she embraced graying, you'll realize just how gracefully DeWitt has navigated the last few decades. Her dark hair cut into a cropped pixie with wispy bangs and a more bare-faced look show off her natural glow. As she has aged, DeWitt seems to have chosen to dress in fewer pops of color and instead leaned into timeless neutrals, as she is often photographed wearing a lot of black and white. 

Feminine detailing in her outfits are clearly still a signature part of her wardrobe, whether it's through a a ruffled collar or an understated jewelry piece. In many ways, although a bit more modest, her present style echoes the same feminine touch she brought to the set of her hit sitcom. 

If you give it some thought, there are just as many stars from the '70s and '80s who chose to step away from the spotlight as there are those who continued to chase it. For Joyce DeWitt, stepping away from Hollywood wasn't about quitting, but more so a choice to live a more grounded and authentic life her way. Similar to fellow '80s star Donna Dixon, who is still such a stunner today, DeWitt went on hiatus. 

In a 2011 interview with Sitcoms Online, the "Three's Company" star explained that she needed a breather after her time on the hit series, and it ended up being a longer break than she'd planned. "I was going to take six months off to kind of decompress ... chill and rest, but I was drawn quite naturally as my life has unfolded always into the next moment." That short break turned into 15 years away from showbiz. 

Those 15 years were a journey of self-discovery for DeWitt. She traveled the world, studied religions, and searched for the purpose of life. DeWitt opted to not get so caught up in the pressures of Hollywood beauty standards and focused on her holistic wellness and defining who she was as an individual. It's what allowed her to stay grounded so that when she returned to acting projects, she did it on her own terms.
