Angela Bassett's Daughter Has Grown Up To Be A Gorgeous Debutante & Ivy League Student
It's true that the children of Hollywood celebs get afforded plenty of perks, but they have to work that much harder to not get lost in the shadows — and Bronwyn Vance seems to be primed to make her own way. She's the daughter of icons Courtney B. Vance and Angela Bassett, but she's also a student at Harvard University and a debutante. In 2024, Bronwyn enrolled in the Ivy League's Department of Art, Film, and Visual studies according to her LinkedIn. And in December 2025, the then-19-year-old was invited to participate in Le Bal des Débutantes, held each year in Paris as a charity ball and, as the name and tradition suggests, to introduce young women into society.
French designer Stéphane Rolland hand-crafted Bronwyn's dress, a dreamy sea of white tulle with gold appliques along the neckline and bodice, and trailing into the skirt. Bronwyn wasn't the first from Hollywood's upper echelon to participate in the illustrious ball. Notable past debutantes include Margaret Qualley, Lily Collins, Lori Harvey, Ava Phillippe, and Apple Martin, who's debutante ball dress also had heads turning.
Bronwyn's twin brother Slater Vance — also an Ivy League student at Yale, where their parents met in the early '80s — escorted her as her "cavalier." Le Bal posted a video on Instagram in July 2026 of the two making their entrance, which concluded with the cutest dance and bro-sis secret handshake. Bronwyn commented on the video, writing, "My favorite time of year."
Bronwyn Vance loves 'feeling like a princess'
France's modern, reimagined version of the debutante ball was started in 1994 by Madame Ophélie Renouard, who reached out the Bassett-Vance family with an invitation. Bronwyn Vance spoke to Hello! ahead of the ball and said, "I love fashion and feeling like a princess, and this seemed like something I would love. I also recognized some of the girls who did it years prior and knew if they were doing it, it was a great event." In addition to the who's who of Hollywood, members of the aristocracy have also made appearances at Le Bal des Débutantes in years past, and so we bet Bronwyn could've mined some high-level style tricks and tips from the ladies of the royal family.
She seems to be doing just fine on her own, though; we're adding her to our list of celebrity kids who have the potential to be fashion icons. Angela Bassett told Hello! that she wasn't familiar with the ball before they reached out, but the family was excited about Bronwyn's enthusiasm. She said, "Bronwyn has a spirit of graciousness. She is at ease and seeks to put others at ease in whatever situation she finds herself."
