Stockard Channing, 82, Stuns In Rare Public Appearance & Gives Us Major Hair Inspo

For decades, Stockard Channing has always been a welcome face on our screens, whether in her breakout film role as Betty Rizzo in 1978's "Grease" or as the first lady on "The West Wing" in the early 2000s. She's had a long career on both screen and stage, and in the last several years, Channing has started to slow down a bit, acting in fewer projects and living a more private life. So when she made a rare public appearance for a "Practical Magic 2" promo in August 2026, fans had to do a double-take of this octogenarian rocking a gorgeous hairstyle and green 'fit.

Now 82 years old, Channing looked stunning in the most perfectly put-together monochromatic outfit in shades of green. But what really impressed us was her beautiful hair. The "Practical Magic" star's flowing tresses are so refreshing, because while some feel the need to go short as they begin to age, there are a lot of long hairstyles that can be so flattering on older women. The side part she's rocking with a softly-curled blowout gave Channing's locks lots of volume and luster, and the way her expertly blended highlights effortlessly elevate her hair (especially the bright pieces framing her face) has us wanting to run to the salon.

Of course, Stockard Channing's latest stunning hair look doesn't surprise us too much, as the actor has rocked many fabulous different styles throughout her career, and she's got a little inspo for everyone. Since her days as Rizzo in "Grease," Channing hasn't been content to stick with any one look for too long — and the changes she made weren't subtle. Though she had mostly been seen in dark brown hair, in 1994, Channing lightened up to a honey brunette and wore her hair in long, loose layers that added softness to her distinct jawline.

Another standout hairstyle for the "Practical Magic" star, who reprises her role as witch Aunt Frances for the sequel, was at the 2003 Emmy Awards. She was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for "The West Wing," and on the red carpet, Channing opted for a chic long pixie with bangs. The fringe helped frame her face and highlight her distinct hazel-green eyes, which truly popped when paired with her red dress.
