Audrey Hepburn Was Still A Total Beauty Queen In Her 60s

When it comes to talented actors with the beauty and the style to go with it, there's no one quite like Audrey Hepburn. Not only is she one of the most important fashion icons to have ever lived (Audrey Hepburn played a role in elevating capri pants and consistently set style trends), but in a culture so obsessed with hanging onto their youth forever, the actor actually embraced getting older. In the book "Intimate Audrey: An Authorized Biography" (via People), Hepburn's son, Sean Hepburn Ferrer, recounted one instance when his mother was photographed during a trip, and the photographer offered to retouch the images to remove her wrinkles. While some famous faces might have gladly agreed, Audrey Hepburn wasn't keen on hiding her wrinkles. "Don't you dare touch any one of those wrinkles," Sean recalled her saying. "I earned every single one of them." 

Tragically, Hepburn passed away in January 1993 at the age of 63. In 1992, she was diagnosed with appendix cancer and was only given a few months to live. Although the world lost Hepburn painfully early, she remained a beauty queen into her 60s and right up until the end of her life. Hepburn left behind a legacy of kindness, grace, talent, and, of course, her undeniable loveliness. 

In March 1992, Audrey Hepburn attended the Academy Awards to present an Honorary Academy Award to filmmaker Satyajit Ray. For the event, Hepburn wore a full-length, one-shoulder magenta gown with gold heels and accessorized with colorful dangly earrings. Although Hepburn had many different hairstyles other than her signature pixie cut, by the time she was in her 60s, she wore her hair long. For this event, the star had her hair pulled back, drawing all attention to her stunning bone structure and those beautiful earrings. As always, she was the epitome of flawlessness. 

When Audrey Hepburn attended the Golden Globe Awards in January 1990 to receive the well-deserved Cecil B. deMille trophy, she stunned in all white. Not only was her gown white, but she wore a matching wrap and white earrings — the only hint of color was in her silver clutch. Although there was once a rule about not wearing white after Labor Day, if there was ever a person who should be allowed to break such silly rules, it's definitely Hepburn. Her makeup, as usual, was minimal and refreshing.

The "My Fair Lady" star is perhaps one of the most stylish people to have ever lived, and there are many celebrities who have paid homage to Audrey Hepburn through beauty and fashion looks. She's also the perfect example that dressing conservatively can sometimes be sexy. After all, Hepburn won't be remembered as a woman who showed a lot of skin, because she never did. When she attended the Tony Awards in June 1991, despite it being early summer in New York, Hepburn went for a long-sleeve navy-blue gown that she completed with white floral earrings and her hair in an updo.
