Shoutout To Hannah Waddingham's Fitness Routine - The Ted Lasso Star Is Glowing At 52
"Ted Lasso" star Hannah Waddingham is absolutely glowing at 52 years old, and it's not just because of her voluminous short hairstyles that are perfect for older women to copy or the fact that she proved fun fashion is possible in your 50s. Her radiance is thanks in part to her newfound light-hearted philosophy on working out.
The actor, who danced most of her life, often hit the gym two to three times a week, partaking in Pilates and other dance-based exercises until an injury sidelined her for 18 months, taking a toll on her mental and physical health. So, in a time where new workout fads dominate the algorithm, Waddingham has learned the art of working out without ever stepping foot in a gym. Some days, she opts for light weights in the morning, while others she focuses on a calisthenics workout. But the simple key component? Getting your body moving each day.
"I've always said to my friends: activate your muscles –- every day. People are very lovely; they talk about my arms. I just keep them activated," Waddingham told Women's Health in May 2026. As women approach menopause, working out becomes crucial to protect their metabolism, maintain mobility, and regulate their blood sugar. Even though it can feel like a daunting task, especially while entering this new phase of life, Waddingham said, "Seize who you are and love every second of your changes ... Is it easy? No. Is it going to happen regardless? Yes ... Be the master of your own reins."
One of Hannah Waddingham's favorite activities is quite unconventional
Through all of her fitness methods, Hannah Waddingham enjoys one specific activity that is perhaps unconventional but still an effective workout. It's not running or strength training; in fact, the Emmy-winning actor enjoys boogie boarding. In an interview with IMDb, she discussed that it's not just an activity to pass time –- it's one she's actually great at. When asked about something people would be surprised to learn about her, she said, "I'm a demon boogie boarder."
Boogie boarding (or body boarding) is a form of surfing that requires you to lie on your stomach on a short board as you paddle toward the waves heading to shore. The workout forces you to engage your core, arms, legs, and back to stay stable on the board as you twist and turn, navigating the waves. At the same time, the bodyweight exercise works your cardiovascular system, giving you a full-body workout.
Waddingham seems to have mastered the art of getting fit in fun and accessible ways. "I'd be lying if I said I did a lot," she shared with Women's Health. "Never underestimate the value of doing squats the whole time you're brushing your teeth."
