Remember Younger Sister Maizy From Uncle Buck? Here's What She Looks Like Today

The 1989 movie "Uncle Buck" still resonates today as a comforting family classic that starred the late John Candy and many of our favorite childhood stars. We're not just talking about Macaulay Culkin and Jean Louisa Kelly (the older sister from Uncle Buck — here's what she looks like now), but Gaby Hoffmann, who played the younger sister, Maizy. "That movie was playing video games with Mac and rejoicing in the extraordinary loveliness of John Candy," Hoffmann told Indie Outlook in 2020.

These days, Hoffmann is among the child stars who grew up to be gorgeous, with her expressive facial features and signature thick eyebrows. In 2016, she even told InStyle, "I cannot tell you how many times I got a job and I was like 'No, you are not cutting my brows!'" (via Yahoo! Life). Hoffmann kept her dark brown hair too, but has embraced its natural look by wearing it full and wavy. She also let her gray hair grow in, which came in handy for her role in 2022's "Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty." That year, she told Harper's Bazaar, "It's nice to be able to play a woman who actually looks her age. And all my premature grays can finally shine." Hoffmann welcomes aging, despite having found fame as a child. She told The Guardian in 2021, "I've always been excited to be in my 40s ... It seems quite clear to me that things just get better." Hoffmann clearly looks great and has a nonchalant attitude about her appearance. 

It's clear that Gaby Hoffmann is among the celebrities who proudly show off their gray hair, but she's also pretty laid-back when it comes to her look in general. "I've just never dolled myself up in the way you'd have to to get the girlfriend parts. I'm not interested in being the sex symbol," she told Cosmopolitan in 2015. Hoffmann, who described her approach to fashion to InStyle as "fun and comfortable," has continued to gravitate toward characters who look like real people, too. She explained to The Guardian, "As an audience member I'm often so distracted by how perfect everybody always looks; they've just got out of bed ... and look like they're ready to hit the runway!"

There was a time however, when Hoffmann did put more effort into her look, which was after she played a business executive in "Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty." She told Harper's Bazaar, "After spending all of that time in hair and makeup, and putting on those nice, smart suits ... I remember thinking, 'I should not just roll out of bed and be in my dirty jeans from the day before.'" Yet she added, "But I forgot all about it, and I'm back to my slovenly ways." For Hoffmann, looking your best is about doing whatever makes you feel good and not worrying about pleasing anyone else.
