Meghan Markle Nailed Fall 2026's Hottest Color Trend In Old-Money Outfit For Her UK Comeback
Meghan Markle made her first public appearance alongside her husband, Prince Harry, since their surprising move back to Britain, and needless to say, she looked stunning. Markle's controversial return confirmed that she's a fashionista, as she leaned into one of fall 2026's hottest color trends with glamour during a visit to The Community Recording Studio in Nottingham. From her coat and turtleneck to her heels, Markle donned an almost all-burgundy look, which nailed fall 2026's biggest retro comeback color. Markle took it a step further by pairing those pieces with a purple pencil skirt, another color that is trending this fall. The whole outfit gave huge old-money vibes; burgundy and purple are historically royal shades, and Markle used monochromatic "color-drenching" for a quiet luxury feel. It also helped that Markle's coat was a cashmere blend and that everything was perfectly tailored for a sleek look.
Markle isn't the only royal who embraced burgundy and purple this fall either. Weeks earlier, Kate Middleton wore a purple gown to the September 2026 premiere of "Digger," and later stepped out in a grey suit with notable touches of burgundy in her belt, heels, and purse. As for the returning royal, her comeback look could be considered one of Meghan Markle's best outfits in her 40s. She even told a fan (per InStyle), "It's great to be back."
Meghan Markle wore British designers for her first appearance since returning to the UK
Meghan Markle didn't just wear fall 2026's hottest color trends at her first public appearance since returning to the UK, she wore all British designers too. Her long burgundy coat, turtleneck, and earrings, which were on display thanks to her sleek ponytail, are all by the British brand Joseph. Her skirt is by The Fold London, and we can't forget her heels, which are by Jennifer Chamandi, another Britain-based designer. While Markle is now free from royal style rules, she may have opted to wear British designers to mark her return to Britain and to embrace local culture. Regardless, it probably wasn't a coincidence since Markle said on "The Jamie Kern Lima Show" in 2025 that she wants her clothing to send a message. "You know, there was a long time where ... I wasn't out talking. So if you couldn't hear me, how could I be heard through what I was wearing if that was what people were focusing on?" she said.
Markle's October 2026 look was also a nod to her past in the UK. That's because Markle wore Joseph for her first royal engagement in Nottingham back in December 2017. A fan showed Markle a photo from that visit, when, according to the Daily Mail, Markle said, "What a great memory." It's clear that many people are happy to have Markle back in the UK making public appearances, and we're happy to have more fashion inspo too!
