Plastic surgery used to be a a hugely taboo topic, especially when it came to celebrities. Admitting you had work done was seen as shameful, and probably still is to some people. But in general, society has become so much more accepting of cosmetic procedures, largely in part because celebrities with plastic surgery are speaking out about it more.

If changing something about your appearance makes you more confident, then why not? Its ultimately a personal decision. And the more open people are about the work they’ve had done, the faster society will shed the stigma. Here are 20 celebrities with plastic surgery who are changing the narrative around having work done.

Cardi B

After flaunting her incredible abs at the 2019 Billboard Music Wards, Cardi B admitted to having liposuction after the birth of her daughter. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Cardi said that it’s important to her to be honest about plastic surgery.

“I want to explain to people how hard it is to process,” she said. “I feel like people look at girls on Instagram and go, ‘Oh, they got their lipo done and it was so easy.’ It is just such a long, hard process, almost like the same process as after you give birth to a baby and you see your body change.”

Ariel Winter

The Modern Family actress said that the breast reduction surgery she had at 17 changed her life for the better. “There was so little that I could wear that was age-appropriate,” she told Glamour magazine. “I’d have to wear the dress that was super tight and form-fitted everywhere because if I didn’t, it didn’t look good.”

“It’s amazing to finally feel right,” she said of life after her surgery. “This is how I was supposed to be.”

Kylie Jenner

Back in 2015, the youngest Kardashian admitted that she had temporary lip fillers after a flurry of speculation. She’s spoken about how her lips had long been an insecurity, and before surgery she’d overdrawn her lip liner to achieve a similar effect. Last year, Kylie announced she dissolved her lip filler, but has since gotten them redone — without shame.

Kourtney Kardashian

After wearing a particularly tight ponytail, Kourtney Kardashian experienced hair loss and decided to get plasma injections in her scalp. The whole thing went down on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, where Kourtney unabashedly shared the process with viewers.

She’s also been open about her breast implants over the years. In 2010, Kourtney told Nightline: “I have had breast implants, but it’s so funny ’cause it’s not a secret, I could care less.”

Kim Kardashian West

Kim adamantly denies having implants, but she did reveal that she had laser treatments to remove stretch marks from her breasts. Last year on her app, the reality star and beauty mogul said, “After breastfeeding North, I wasn’t happy with the stretch marks on my boobs. I had the area Coolbeam lasered by Dr. Ourian. It made SUCH a difference.”

Tyra Banks

Like many celebrities with plastic surgery, Banks had her procedure purely for cosmetic reasons — and that’s totally ok. The “Top Model” admitted to having a nose job in her 2018 book, Perfect Is Boring. “I had bones in my nose that were growing and itching,” she wrote, per People. “I could breathe fine, but I added cosmetic surgery. I admit it! Fake hair, and I did my nose. I feel I have a responsibility to tell the truth.”

Sharon Osbourne

Sharon Osbourne has been open about her face lifts in the past, but the 66-year-old recently revealed that she just had another procedure. On Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Osbourne casually opened up to the host about her “new face,” pointing out that she’s lucky that her surgeries have been successful.

“It’s just that it’s so popular now for men and women to get facelifts that there’s very few, really good surgeons and there’s so many people wanting to have it done that, odds are, you’re gonna get a dud,” she said.

The 46-year-old actress revealed in her 2013 book, It’s All Good that she had a bad experience with facial fillers. “I’ll try anything,” she wrote. “Except I won’t do Botox again, because I looked crazy. I looked like Joan Rivers.”

Courtney Cox

The 55-year-old Friends star has been open about receiving facial fillers over the years. “You have no idea because it’s gradual, until you go, ‘Oh, s–t. This doesn’t look right.’ And it’s worse in pictures than in real life,” Cox told told New Beauty magazine in 2017. “I’ve had all my fillers dissolved. I’m as natural as I can be. I feel better because I look like myself. I think that I now look more like the person that I was. I hope I do.”

Yolanda Hadid

After being diagnosed with Lyme disease, the 55-year-old Real Housewives star and mom to Gigi and Bella stopped getting Botox and fillers. “Fifty five and smiling from the inside out…finally back to the original 1964,” Yolanda Hadid wrote in an Instagram caption in January of 2019. “Living in a body free of breast implants, fillers, botox, extensions and all the bullshit I thought I needed in order to keep up with what society conditioned me to believe what a sexy woman should look like until the toxicity of it all almost killed me.”

❤️Fifty Five and smiling from the inside out…. Finally back to the original 1964. Living in a body free of breast implants, fillers, botox, exstensions and all the bullshit I thought I needed in order to keep up with what society conditioned me to believe what a sexy woman should look like until the toxicity of it all almost killed me………. Your health is your wealth so please make educated decisions, research the partial information you’re given by our broken system before putting anything foreign in your body. It took me many years of undoing some bad choices I made for myself before I finally found the freedom to sustainable internal beauty and acceptance of what is the best version of myself by nobody’s standards but my own…………………….It’s on us to learn to love our selves and celebrate our unique, one of a kind beauty at all ages as we move through this journey called “life”. Beauty has no meaning without your health………………. #ShamelessSelfie #55 #BeautyStartsFromWithin #AgeComesWithWisdom

Jessica Simpson

Back in 2006, Jessica Simpson told Glamour she tried lip injections, but wasn’t super pleased with the results. “I had that Restylane stuff. It looked fake to me. The 34-year-old ex-High School Musical star Tisdale opened up to People in 2007 about having a rhinoplasty to fix a deviated septum. “I didn’t do this because I believe in plastic surgery. I did this to help my health. I literally almost could not breathe out of the right side of my nose,” she said. “I want my fans to know the truth.
