When Jennifer Lopez posted a bikini photo on Instagram last month, she probably had no idea it would spark the latest body positive movement on social media. But that’s exactly what happened, and thus, the #JLoChallenge was born.

The photo, which was posted on February 16 shortly after her incredible performance at the 2020 Super Bowl Halftime Show, shows the 50-year-old star posing in front of a mirror wearing a teeny-tiny, white bikini. “Relaxed and recharged,” she captioned the post.

Of course, it’s impossible not to notice J.Lo’s super toned body, and her comment section is full of well-deserved compliments (those abs!) and fire emojis. But the social media movement that has since gone viral is about more than looks alone. The #JLoChallenge celebrates the strength of a woman’s body at any size or age.

A few days later, Maria Kang, a fitness influencer and founder of No Excuses Mom, posted a similar photo with an important message to moms. “Thank you @jlo for inspiring this spontaneous pic in a white bikini this morning,” she captioned her post.

King continued: “Not a celebrity. Not getting millions to look great in a movie (hello, Hustlers! 🙂 Or dating a hot athlete (although my hubby is kinda cute!) BUT, it doesn’t matter…Own your story. Create your own accountability. Don’t make excuses for your inaction. If she can do it, if I can do it, if thousands of working moms who come in all sizes, shapes and ages can do it – then YOU CAN DO IT!”

This is (almost) 40!⁣ ⁣ Thank you @jlo for inspiring this spontaneous pic in a white bikini this morning. Yes, my mirror is freckled with toothpaste (does your children only use your sink too?!), yes there are unpacked luggages on the ground, an iron, dog dryer and husband shaving somewhere in the background – but I”m getting it done! ⁣ ⁣ Not a celebrity. Not getting millions to look great in a movie (hello, Hustlers! 🙂 Or dating a hot athlete (although my hubby is kinda cute!) BUT, it doesn’t matter… ⁣ ⁣ Own your story. King finished by challenging her followers to post their own version of J.Lo’s bikini selfie to the social media app and tag friends to do the same. Women of all ages and sizes from around the world were inspired to participate, sharing their stories of self-love and strength.

“I have 4 amazing kids, I am 48. I learned how to love myself and accept myself. I am not perfect, I embrace my imperfections, I am me. I decide to be happy no matter what: I am strong, I am enough, I am worth it, I am beautiful,” wrote one woman alongside her photo.

Many of the women also thanked Lopez for inspiring them to stay motivated and find strength in their bodies. Being the health champion that she is, Lopez eventually caught onto the challenge and applauded all the women who participated. “Keep growing, keep pushing,” she wrote in an Instagram Story.

J.Lo is no doubt an inspiration, and we love to see all the confidence she brought out in others. Check out more of the beautiful women who’ve shared their #JLoChallenge selfies below.

In celebration of just turning 58 and taking J Lo‘s challenge, I’m posting this pic of where I am today. I’ve learned every new season brings a new body. I celebrate I have made it this far in my journey and I’m not done yet! And I appreciate each stage my body went through from childbearing to 40 lb. weight gain in my 30s, to menopause, to here. I celebrate I can play basketball with my grandson in the driveway or pull my two granddaughters in a wagon, uphill, running! I am honored to teach Les Mills Body Pump and Body Flow classes to people of all ages and sizes showing that strength and beauty first starts from within then resonates out. I celebrate each woman who is overcoming her own set of obstacles as she continues to push forward with a brave heart and a smile on her face touching the lives of those around her. Like J Lo and so many women over the age of 50 I am recharged and I feel strong. #jlochallenge @jlo #50andfabulous #besottedgrandma #lesmills #feelitall #sisterhood #myfirstbathroomselfie😄

I am a 37 year old wife, mother, business owner and a proud member of the #noexcusemom community ~ joining in on the empowering movement of spreading body positivity with the #jlochallenge. As hard as it was to take this picture & share it to the world..because let’s face it, we ALL can be very hard on ourselves & can nit pick all damn day on what we don’t like & what we would change. But there’s a point in our lives where we have to accept that we all come in different SHAPES & SIZES and embrace the stage that we are in. I’m choosing to love my body because it gave birth to 2 healthy + beautiful children (now 16 & 13) and has gone through many changes 👋🏽 *hello stretch marks* and will keep evolving because I won’t stop working on me. I will continue to take care of myself and NOT make excuses on why I’m not taking care of myself, but instead finding REASONS. Because my children & my family deserves a healthier happier mother! I’m so very thankful to have the support & encouragement that I receive from my No Excuse Mom community, my family, & friends. I challenge you to share your bathroom selfie and help empower other women around the world to do the same, what are YOU waiting for??? #NEMworthington #happierhealthier #nomoreexcuses #filterfree #inspired #mompreneur
